Hello everyone, I posted a while back about rolling my truck and totaling it. Insurance didn't cover it, tough luck.

Anyways, I've got a friend that is interested in buying the salvage off me to part out.

We're both trying to figure out a fair price. Any thoughts?

It was a 2006 4WD Double Cab with 112k miles. Drive train, engine, everything on it was good. Most body panels are damaged now though, roof dented in, windshield broken, etc. Most, if not all major mechanicals should be good though. New tires. Interior was clean.

Insurance valued it at about $15k.

What about the frame, is the frame good?

Like, if someone had a good body and bad frame, would it be possible to swap one to the other?

Possibly dumb question but what the hell. Their going to give you "about $15K".
Friends are hard to come by, have they made an offer ?

Here's an example of a roll over project for $500....

It's hard to tell. The rear passenger wheel is completely off and the front tire is dead flat. I looked underneath at the frame and I don't see any crumpling or buckling. To the eye, it looks good... but who knows until you actually get the body off and put a tape from corner to corner?

$15k was what the insurance company valued the truck at pre-accident. I didn't have proper collision coverage to cover it, so they're not paying me anything.

Just gave that figure to reference the market value.

Oof. That's a painful lesson to learn.

I would value based on the most expensive thing in there: The drivetrain. I'd probably try to get $3k-4k. I think a "homey hookup" deal is probably $2500.

Call the local Copart or Insurance Auto Auction location - ask what they would pay you for it.

Give your friend first dibs at that price.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see 4 figure offers. Guesstimate is $1500-2k range. The drivetrain on these things are always in demand and command a premium.

I had a 2004 Tundra I totaled out - 322k miles - HARD rear hit (bed and rear frame destroyed) and front was moderate damage - only sheet metal that might have commanded any resale was doors. Sold for 6k to a buyer in UAE.

Amazes me what parts pullers pay overseas for Toyota trucks - compared to what a domestic truck commands. There’s a market for it and having shipping readily available helps prices with the duopoly of salvage auctions.
