1.5" spacers on 2wd trd sport wheels results

A forum member recently posted his experience with installing 1" motorsport-tech/BORA spacers (https://www.tundras.com/threads/2022-tundra-and-motorsport-wheel-spacers.103783/)

Based on how great his truck looks, I ordered some for mine, but I got 1.5" instead of 1". The spacers are really nice and come with lugs. They quote 1-4 weeks for normal delivery unless you do rush build. I didn't pay for rush build and they took about 3 weeks to get here.

The trucks come with either 285 or 265 section width tires depending on package. I have 265's so went with 1.5". If I had 285's, I'd probably go with 1". Neither size requires cutting studs on these wheels.

Only other mod is a Rough country leveling kit. The truck looks much much better with the spacers and leveling kit compared to stock.

Looks great! I just got my 1.25 spacers from Motorsport today but the studs appear to be too narrow! Did you find this as well? They look like they are M12 instead of M14 so I can't re-use the existing lug nuts. Curious if your spacers fit properly when you received them?

My stock lug nuts worked no problem. Did you try threading one of the stock nuts on?

 

I did, but it slid right over the stud. Pretty sure they sent me the Tacoma spacers, not the Tundra ones. Will be calling them today to see about getting them switched out.

 

That sucks. I noticed when mine got here that a packing slip was attached to the outside of the box rather than placed in the box with the spacers so was a little concerned that they could've sent the wrong ones pretty easily.

 

How are you liking the spacers? Still running stock tires?

 

Now when you drive in slightly rainy weather, your truck and vehicle behind you will be all dirty from dirty water overspray.

Wheel wells are designed to keep it from happening. Not understanding this.

 

Still on stock tires and still liking the spacers. Truck wont clear garage door opening with noticeably taller tires so can't really do an aftermarket wheel/tire combo.

 

Good to hear, I have the same truck, color and all, just in 4x4 so I'm hoping the 1.25 is enough with meatier tires!

I agree... I know our trucks look purdy when clean, but pick ups in general are meant to be utilitarian, so being dirty is part of the game... If you are following close enough behind me that my overspray hits your car, then you are following too close in your precious vehicle...

 

Completely agree. I just put on 35mm for the fronts and back and to be honest, it should have came from the factory that way. It looks 10000% better and absolutely no compromise in ride quality.

 

How does getting dirty help with utility of a pickup truck? If at all, this modification causes greater wear on the components.

 

I never stated that getting dirty "helps with utility"... I stated that by their very nature, pick ups are meant to be utilitarian...

Utilitarian - designed to be useful or practical rather than attractive.

Last I checked, trucks are what you see on job sites, farms, trails, etc... Can't recall the last time I saw a Prius hauling material, a trunk full of mulch, or cruising a dirt trail to a deer lease...

 

I understand that, gang. I am not trying to start an argument. My utilitarian comment revolves around adding spacers to the wheels. I fail to understand how two are connected.

My mistake... I thought when you said "How does getting dirty help with utility of a pickup truck?" you were asking just that... Had the question been "how does adding wheel spacers improve upon the utilitarian nature of a pick up?" I may have had a different response...

To answer that question, I do not know if there is an effect (negative or not) as I have never added wheel spacers to a vehicle...

That looks awesome, but do you think there is any long term impact to the lifespan of your wheel bearings by adding spacers?
