I want to add lightbars but looking at them tells me that I'm depriving my truck of air. Do these lightbars having any affect on the engine cooling?

Minor impact but depends on which lights and where you place them. Mine are behind the grille and take a minor amount of air but not enough to impact.

I'm also curious if anyone has experience with Rough Country lightbars? I can't bring myself to spend 1k for a lightbar from the other guys

Very nice. We have wild pigs here and they are black so they are very hard to see. I need to throw a lot of light out for the lookout.

    Thank you

The 20" that came with my bumper was running strong with no condensation issues when I took it off. No complaints.

    Too many, but not enough....
I dont think the hood bulge actually functions so putting a bar there would not get you any negative effects.

I've been running the SDHQ double LED bar bracket for a couple of years now, and monitor my engine and trans temps via Torque Pro. No issues with engine running hotter, even after removing the air deflectors per the bracket's instructions. I also used the SDHQ hood bulge LED bar mounting brackets...super sturdy, and converts one of the plastic bulge clips (that can pop out sometimes) to a hardware mount.

The only issue with the setup that he has is that it won't fit if you add a transmission cooler to your truck.

I did both behind the grille and hood.
NSV in the hood, HR 40" behind the grille. I have a SC cooler and transmission cooler and they all fit with the bar, and have zeros temperature issues.

If I had to have only one, I would do the NSV in the hood. Seamless integration into the truck and no effort to use (no reaching for aux switches or switch pro buttons).

I would go hood bulge. Utilizes unused space. Behind the grille are functional too but more so if you have a specific grille. I would go bulge.

Thanks, does it mount in after center piece is removed or did you have to fab up brackets?

I use the taller brackets that came with the set. Bolted it straight down through the metal in the hood. I removed the plastic screen to make room. You will also have to either replace the clips or use a dab of Super Glue to hold the tab in the metal hole.

I don’t have the hood bulge in my 2nd Gen like y’all’s 2.5 Gen. But I installed light bars in my grill and haven’t had any issues with cooling.

I even have a bracket for my winch controller mounted behind the grill. Still no cooling issue.

I have the hood bulge from RC. I only have the amber wired up to a switch now. Had it wired differently, but wasn’t happy with the way it worked. 18E57DB6-4E43-405D-94FF-6BF2FFE54EFD.jpg Someday I’ll wire the white light up. RC hood bulge light comes with amber and white. Not hard to install, but a little time consuming. (For me :() But, I like it.

Thank you! One more question did you wire it on a separate switch and run through firewall boot like I’ve seen others on here?

Any condensation build up in your light? I just read that in one of the reviews so curious.

Just take some silicone and seal wire hole before installing.
