I know I read on here a couple months ago about other owners having the very loud clunk noise when you start your truck. It's not every time but it shouldn't do it at all.
Someone mentioned it might be the torque converter.
Has anyone taken it in to the dealer for a fix?

Don’t know what it is but I have heard multiple trucks do it so I assume there’s no fix as it’s normal.

Mine does this as well. Like you said, it’s only on some start ups, not all. I was just going to mention it to the dealer when I take it in for some other warranty work.

This is something we’ve been talking about off and on for awhile now. See the thread below that spans February to pretty recent.

I don’t recall anyone saying their dealer claiming it’s the torque converter. After mentioning it to my dealer at my 5k and 10k mile services, they finally heard it at my 15k mile service. Per usual, it only happened once and they couldn’t replicate it again after they heard it. They checked the tech bulletins and recorded it. They’re best guess was that it’s the secondary air injection pump.

Hybrids or non? Mine sometimes clunks slightly when going between one or the other. On startup I assume it is something to do with the mechanism that connects the motor to the transmission. It doesn’t sound like anything awful, if this is what you’re talking about anyway.
