Anyone had this happen to them? Unfortunately I wasn't driving it as my girl took the truck to work. But she called me this morning and said while driving through a residential street around 30mph this morning, the truck started beeping and flashed a warning along the lines of "engine off, please park the vehicle". She coasted to a stop, turned the music down and realized the engine was off. The truck said "please put in park before exiting the vehicle".

She said she put the truck in park, started it back up and went on her commute to work. Truck is currently running fine and no CEL's. Just seeing if this has happened to anyone else.

    Too many, but not enough....
This just happened to another member on here, his truck died on the street in the middle of a drive. Dealer couldnt find what the problem was, so they have a specialist coming to look at it. Its the catastrophic failure thread.

I was just reading that thread but sounds like he's having a different issue. Pretty sure he had a CEL and the truck wouldn't start again.

Let me know what you find. I'm scheduling an appointment to go in tomorrow and get a couple software recalls knocked out.

will do! it had something to do with a software update. it was like a combination of hard braking and hard acceleration that the truck can potentially shut off while driving.

Oh, yep. Checked the app and looks like hard braking after letting go of the gas pedal can do this. Just doesn't add up with how she was driving but maybe this is the issue.

I don’t have a 22, but why would the steering and braking not be affected if the engine is not running?

Just posting an update for those following along. Took the truck in on Friday and had the issue "addressed". Over the weekend the truck died on me while pulling up to a stoplight on a residential street. My GF took it the next day to the store and said it died on her 3-4 times in a row while accelerating and stopping to each speedbump in the parking lot. Kind of frustrated with this but also thankful this is only happening at slow speeds...

I was watching the RPM's when this happened to me and while my GF was driving it and noticed sometimes when coming to a stop the RPM's will drop all the way down to around 250 before coming up to the normal 750 ish idle RPM. It's almost like the truck is slightly stalling out even when this issue isn't happening. Truck is going back Thursday to have this readdressed.

So the ecu flash that was suppose to fix the stalling didn’t fix the stalling? It sounds like it made it worst.

Yep... unfortunately. It seems to only happen when you start to accelerate from a very low speed then let off the gas immediately to braking. Hence why it happened repeatedly in the parking lot and during very similar conditions on the road.

Also, checking my app now day 3 after having this recall done my app is still showing this as an active recall. Not sure what's up with that.

I wonder is the auto-start/stop malfunctioning or is it disabled while you are driving?

I had that thought as well, but the truck is dying while coming to a stop, the truck hasn't fully stopped at this point. It still allows me to coast to a stop and brakes/steering work just fine.

I’m experiencing similar results, coming to a stop sometimes it feels like the engine rpm’s drop pretty low like it’s going to stall. but never does.

no recalls reported on my vin.

As I was driving along a major interstate this afternoon, I noticed that my 2022 Tundra felt as if it was missing. I accelerated and then I began to hear what sounded like a valve tapping. No CEL suddenly. The CEL lit up and I got the engine stopped pull your vehicle over to safe location message. I managed to get reach a safe location to get the vehicle stopped. I shut the vehicle off then attempted to restart the vehicle and the engine would not even pull over. Just though I would add to the thread.

Because the Gen3 have those as electrically powered, and the Hybrids don't have an alternator... Wrap your head around that concept.
