2nd gen grille color match replacement

i am wanting to replace the chrome around the grille insert with a painted color match replacement. i am thinking of buying and new black one that i can paint because painting chrome has never had good results . my question is will this grill work

i have a 2013 tundra crewmax 4x4 limited with a trd pro grill insert

 

This is the one I picked up recently and had painted. Fit perfect

 

But is says except Limited models ... This is what i am running into. wounder if it is because the limited had chrome and a different grill? i just need the surround outside piece that will fit the trd pro grill that only fits 2010-2013 surround . i have installed the trd pro grill in my chrome factory 2013 surround and it fits perfect . was hoping to find someone that has been down this road with some inside so i dont order the wrong one .

 

I can’t speak specifically to that aftermarket grille, but the surround is the same on all ‘10-‘13 trucks. I have a limited and I replaced it with a used RW grille from eBay and then added the TRD Pro insert. Assuming that grille is decent quality, it will bolt right up to your Limited.

 

What color is your truck? If it happens to be black, red, MGM, or white, you can buy a factory painted Rock Warrior grille.

 

I don’t have a limited but it fit mine no issues. I believe it just says that bc limited has a different style chrome grille.
