Pretty sure I’m in need for a new bed on my ’04 double cab Tundra. From looking online there are two options…with flares and without, I need with, so. I’ve found a couple in the price range I’m happy with and one is close to me (couple hr. drive), however its without flares. My question, are the bed the same other than the flares; would I be able to remove my flares and install on the “new” bed? Thanks for the help.

Double Cab bed is 2" shorter than Regular Cab and Access Cab, and I think there are also width differences. Double Cab is a very differnt beast from the AC and RC trucks, which are quite similar to each other.

Flares require the square punched out holes from the factory, in order to hold the fasteners that secure the flare to the sheet metal.

So, at minimum, you need to find another Double Cab bed to get the right length and ensure it fits on the framerails the same, and you'd ideally want to find one with the square holes if you're not interested in drilling or using a Greenlee or similar punch tool.

There's a specific order to follow when reinstalling the flares FYI. If you don't follow that order, reinstall can be a real bitch.

Oh, and here may be some other dimensional differences by year. Like, I have a new AC tri-fold soft tonneau I'm selling right now at an insane price. The vendor, TonnoPro, says it won't fit pre-'04 trucks. I don't know why that is, unless the earlier trucks didn't have plastic bed rail caps or something.
