So I finally made the decision to purchase a CAI and I have to say that right now after having it installed for about a week I am happy that I did. I have increased my fuel mileage so far by more than a gallon per mile and the truck does have better response in the throttle as well. I was weighing the pros and cons and was trying to decide if the cost was worth it for me. Well after having it installed I have to say that it will pay for itself in no time. I know that there are a ton of videos and opinions on this and for me I have to say that it was worth the purchase. Say what you want but I am happy with the results and the truck has not thrown any codes either like some others have said has happened to them. I disconnected the battery prior to install and it has not caused any issues for me. Just offering my experience with this if anyone else is considering the purchase of a CAI.

I had a K&N CAI on my ‘01 5.3L Silverado and I loved the sound it created, I might get one for my Tundra.

Hey Bad Cow, to each their own. My fuel mileage has improved now to 2 MPG more and still climbing so that's an improvement in my book. I have not changed my driving habits either.

If the genius engineers at Toyota couldn't squeeze out a few more MPG's from the cold air intake they already designed and incorporated into our Tundra's, I'm sure an aftermarket company surely can. :spending:

i did an intake on my 03 Silverado and saw massive improvements, because the GM stock intake tube was restrictive design. The OE tundra tube is great as is

I would say some serious documentation would be needed for this guy to buy a CAI.

Totally purchased a Banks Ram Air CAI.

A data monitor like the Edge CTS3 will change your mind on a few things on vehicle engineers.

Well of course there won't be much enthusiasm over it when you mention that you're using more than a gallon per mile.

If you read this correctly my fuel mileage has improved so far by 2 mpg since installing the CAI. It has not gotten worse.

The K&N CAI made my V8 sound mean, too bad it was really just a HOT air intake that made mean noises. Got the Stillen now and worth every penny.:spending:

Congrats on the MPG gain. Some of the CAI's can def give the engine a growl and if you are getting MPG improvement that's awesome.
