Hi all, happy to be here! Current Sr5 2007 Tundra owner about to step into the next generation after having “Big Red” for 11 years with 221k on her. So I’ve taken the first steps…I went to the dealership on a whim (just hoping they might have something) two weeks ago and picked out a 2022 CM Limited TRD Off-Road in Lunar Rock. I’m finding that color is a bit of a unicorn and I love it even more because of that. I put $1,000 down to reserve it. It was built 6/23 and was on a rail car when I picked it out. It’s now off the rail car but the ETA is unknown, says my salesman. Just hoping it’s not actually a unicorn and it’s almost there. Can’t really wait months for it since I sold my house and I need it to tow my new 277 FK KZ Connect TT. Anyone having experience (timeline-wise) when their truck is already off the train? Just curious what to expect.

Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. If there are no active safety recalls, your truck should move along into your possession fairly quickly. My 2021 got caught up in a power steering safety recall/stop sale and I waited from early October 2021 till March 8, 2022 while the truck was at the rail yard receiving center. I am not aware of any current safety issues on the current 2022. Good luck.

Thanks Jim! Funny that you’re the first person to greet me, being you’re from MN. That’s where we’re ultimately headed (from Maine). Family in Fergus Falls. Can’t wait to get back out there!

Don’t forget to apply some sort of rust proofing on your new truck prior to winter in the land of salt-a-plenty. Also, Minnesota has a serious problem with catalytic converter theft. Order some type of cat shields while you are waiting for your truck to arrive. I got mine from Valhalla shields. Minnesota has a pilot program where you can get numbered ID stickers from the sheriffs office free of charge. You apply the sticker to the catalytic converter, apply an activator and the number is etched into the metal from the heat. This helps to tie the converter back to a specific vehicle for criminal prosecution. There are 15 “top vehicles” subject to this program, Toyota Tundra and Prius are on the list. Fergus Falls is far enough away from the Twin Cities so you won’t have a problem but better safe than sorry. Check out Rollag (WMSTR) over Labor Day weekend. I have helped to restore a number of the steam engines out there when I used to work for Larson Welding & Machine in Fargo.

It’s definitely worth the wait. Heck of an upgrade. Congrats and welcome from Nc.
