Catalytic Converter Stolen

As many guys as we have here, you'd think it would be posted if it had happened..

 

I think I've seen a couple articles online where the thieves started to cut out one of the thinner cheaper name shields and gave up. Nothing about the heavier security plates getting defeated.

Someone posted here about their shield being removed and left at the scene of the crime but that might be the guy you're talking about.

I suppose if you left a vehicle in long term parking at an airport for a month your odds of losing the cats shield or no shield are not in your favor.

There's a park and ride lot near me that had one of those furniture rental place box vans parked there so as to be obvious for free advertising and someone de-catted it.

Im waiting for the first case of the rear cats being cut off with the new RCI cat shields and their flawed design. Their design is just an incident away.

My .02 on the comment that he made that "once most trucks have plates, they will start grinding them off".......there is 73,000 members on this forum, and a small percentage of us here have plates. There are a hell of alot more Tundras on the road than just members of this forum, and alot of them outside of the forum don't know what cat plates are or that cat theft is a big problem. I have mentioned it to quite a few local Tundra owners and I even referred them to @Classy63 and got a deer in the headlights look. Another thing is that any vehicle is a target, not just the Tundras. Point is.......there are plenty of soft targets.

 

Anyone having theft issues in MD with catalytic converters?

 

Some areas are hit harder than others, but it's happening everywhere, even overseas. I saw a video of 3 guys that stole cats from a car as the homeowner filmed them. When they were done, one of them looked at the homeowner, said thank you and have a good evening, and left. I'll have to find the video.

 

My service advisor says the Prius is the most stolen Toyota cat.
Tundra and Sequoia are 2nd on the list.

Good news, for me and for y'all..
My service advisor just called me and said my parts are in and my truck should be ready tomorrow or Monday.

Good news for me, I get my Tundra back.
Good news for you, you won't have to listen to me bitch about it or see my 'days since cat theft' pics anymore.

One more good thing, I'm off work for a while so I'll be installing my Vahallas the very day I get the truck back..

Whoo hoo! You have a laundry list of upgrades on hand that are waiting on the truck to get back for your install. I remember the HotTails Option A but can't remember the rest.

 

Im.betting that your "days since cat theft" actually persuaded some of the guys here to order plates.

Speaking solely for myself - @1lowlife and his nightmare story DID make me purchase the Valhalla Shields! Peace of mind is important for quality sleep.

Not only did it happen, but it happened in my employer's parking lot where I have to park 5 days a week..

Ditto, I tow a boat in the summer EVERY weekend (weather permitting). @1lowlife 's story sold me. I didn't want to be without a tow vehicle for even a few weeks let alone what you had to go through.

If I was the homeowner I'd have filed a police report for stolen cats and missing balls.

Good news indeed. You should mess with their head and install the Valhalla cat plates before they replace the cats

 

My truck has been sitting on their lot for 8 months.
I've gone up to visit it 5 or 6 times during that time.

 

The dealership told you that they were going to give you a new battery, right? Also, was the discussion made regarding your tires after sitting for eight months?

 

Mine. Left my shield just laying on the ground under the truck. I was displeased.

parts have been on order since April 29th. I’d like them to come in.

 

What was done to defeat the shield??? Unbolted it, cut the bolt heads, cut through it, etc...??
