Solar Octane or ??

FYI: I am on a waiting list for a 2022 Tundra TRD Pro. They say I am near the top of the list. Who knows what color will be available when my time comes. I just saw a Solar Octane 2022 TRD Pro up close when I was on a business trip this week. Wow. Bright. High impact. In your face. Stands out. More orange tint than I expected. The color seems to transition from orange (with a hint of burnt amber) to red-orange, depending on how the sunlight hits it (angle and intensity). Looks good on the TRD Pro truck body. My 25-35-year-old self (that existed many years ago) would absolutely love it. The color seems to say, "Hey, I'm here. I'm real. Look at me."

However, I am just not sure I would want that bright bright color as a daily driver for many years. (We keep all our Toyotas for over 150,000 miles). Something more subdued like white, or lunar rock or black might be more acceptable and easier on the eyes, in the long term....

Anyone else have a similar perspective?

 

I am (supposedly) next on the list at a semi-local dealer, and I'm hoping that they get an allocation for a Lunar Rock before the color goes away... I thought I saw somewhere that Solar is sticking around for 23, but Lunar is not... Someone said they were replacing Lunar with the Lime Rush that Tacoma/4Runner got this year, and adding Solar to those platforms as well for 2023.

The Solar would be my second choice, even though it is a little "loud" for me as well... That, and the red accents clash with the orange (to me)... But on the flip side, my last truck was Black and a pain to keep clean/swirl free... And I hear that Toyota's White is a super soft/thin paint, so that is less than ideal as well...

 

Personally having a first model year in a wild introductory color is part of the fun. I'm enjoying my 2015 in inferno. When I enter my 40s and develop low T I can wrap it an old man color. Get the solar octane!

 

I do feel I have seen 5 to 1 solar octane pros to black, white, lunar rock.

 

Go any color other than black. Live it up, if you're getting the Pro, you're already saying "hey look at me" so the solar paint is just the icing on the cake lol
