I only have 800 miles and not even going to bother with making an appointment for it. They can get it on the 5K tire rotation appointment.

Thanks. That was my initial thought as well but the more I thought about it the more doubt settled in. Have a good evening!

The guy posted on YouTube that had his came apart (possibly the first case) had it come apart at 3,012 miles. He was lucky he was going slow and making a turn into a parking lot when it lost its brakes. I’d at least check it myself and then have the dealer do it later to clear the safety recall on your vin.

Surprised the torque rating was so low at 44 ft-lbs and still only up to 70 ft-lbs considering this is a full size truck with 4 wheel drive capability. Toyota app didn’t warn me until yesterday after setting out on a 2000 plus mile trip with a loaded down bed full of stuff for the trip. I’m sitting at over 8.5K miles, so hopefully the bolts don’t come loose before I can get it into a shop for servicing. Visual inspection appears to be good, no loose bolts and no fluid leaks, and plan to crawl underneath every 100+ miles on this trip to keep checking for issues.

I have noticed some low pitch noise from what appears to be coming from right rear of vehicle when driving at 40-50 mph and slightly pushing on gas pedal. It almost sounds like a wheel bearing noise. Only notice it when I have foot on gas pedal, disappears as soon as I let off on gas pedal. Anyone else have this issue? Will mention it to Toyota dealership to have them check it out when I go in for recall service.

My dealer contacted me before the recall popped up in the app. Took the truck in, they said they didn't have to do anything. They checked torque and mine were fine.

Had mine serviced yesterday. Took about 2.5 hours and tech had to upload pics to Toyota. I looked underneath and he marked it all per the TSB attached in this thread yesterday.

Anyone in Canada had this fixed yet? I left mine in for a few days but they say it's still an interim notice so no fix yet...find that hard to believe given what's appeared on this thread.

Edit - apprently they now have the notice.

6 months of ownership, 3,600 miles, and this is going to pretty much be a non-issue. Just a safety precaution and new torque spec. If your bolts were coming loose I would imagine you’d be able to tell immediately in the ride quality. I’m personally just going to let them deal with it at my 5k service in about a month or two.

Little update, dealer got the notice, torqued them up (none missing), submitted to Toyota and I was on my way. Easy-peasy.

Checked all 8 nuts...no movement at 20 or 90nm. Ill let the dealer torque them to 95nm. 2wd Platinum with 6k miles

Dealer estimates about a four hour repair and they are about an hour away from me. Sadly going to turn into an all day affair at some point. I’m not sure why they think it’s going to take them so long, but the service advisor told me they have to do a full inspection and mentioned sending pictures to Toyota. Sorta a bummer, but hopefully I’ll find a day to get up there soon.

Took mine in today and dropped it off since I work right next door. But it only took them an hour to do it. But nothing was wrong with mine. They probably gave you 4 hrs estimate cause if there was something wrong. They’d have to take pics and send it in to Toyota and give you rental vehicle. Otherwise. It’s simple as checking torque and then torque to new spec.

This...with no ETA on a known fix. So they pretty much confiscate it for now.

Didn't want to wait until my service appointment on 7/6 so I crawled under there and torqued down 6 of the 8 bolts. The upper most bolts were difficult to get to and I figured 6/8 is better than none! Mine were definitely nowhere near 70 ft/lbs. Each one I tightened took probably half a turn to get to 70.

They could not be 70 ft.lb (95 Nm) because they were just 44 ft.lb (60 Nm) from the factory. Toyota decided to tighten them more at this recall because they became loose on many vehicles. So, now they tighten them to 95 Nm (70 lb.ft). Let's hope that 95 Nm is not too much and the bolts won't crack...

Some people in here are saying the dealership told them they didn't need to do anything and that they were torqued properly already. Figured I'd take a look at mine and see.

The recall isn't because people are missing axle bolts, it's for the potential some could in the very near future. It's already documented people have lost them and their ability to brake along with it. It affects nearly every 3rd gen that has been built. The majority of the posts/comments on this forum have shown the bolts aren't torqued to the new standard. So yeah, it's wide spread in the sense that if none of the tundras on the road get it addressed, we will see a ton of failed axle bolts in the next few months.

this thread was super helpful. I was able to access 3 of the 4 nuts on each side. All took about a quarter turn before the torque wrench clicked. Not too worried about it. Bought in March, only have 1k miles on it so far and will likely just ride it out til my 5k service call. Sounds like others are doing the same.

I checked mine when I saw the recall notice, none were loose.

I took it to my dealer a few days later and they performed the recall. Easy enough.

Brought ours in today - all torqued to 70 - good to go. Dealer also performed the parking assist ECU update.

Took our Tundra in with 8,000 miles on it for the recall. Toyota dealer took care of it and had the Tundra back in less than an hour.

This could be what is holding up many of the Tundras at ports / rail heads. If they were in the affected group and already left the factory before a fix was implemented they got hit with a freight inspection hold.
