Hello all. I put 9500 miles on the 1794 with the TRD off-road. Now 400 miles in on the platinum hybrid with the AVS and load leveling suspension

The Ride is very different. I feel everything in the platinum. Almost to the point that I wonder if the tires (Yokohama) are the issue. I don't have the bottoming out issue. I actually thought the ride would be even better than I had. I am not sure if there is an issue or if this is just the way it is.

Double check you floor to wheel well for the rear. Mine originally sat at 36.5 to 37 and it did ride more firm. I raised it like other have and the ride has improved. It’s at 38 to 38.5 now.

I followed what others had done and left maybe 1/4 from max

But then again it could be the shocks. I wouldn’t be surprised if the avs was firmer than the OR shocks. My wife’s LC200 definitely rides smoother than my tundra but the brake dive and throttle squatting I can’t stand.

i have a limited with rear air and also feel it rides poorly. What’s your tire pressure? I adjusted the rear air and at least now it doesn’t bottom out but that’s not the main issue. My tires came around 40 psi and adjusting them down the 34ish didn’t make much difference. Mine also rides quite poorly just cruising on the highway, like pretty much every little bump gets into the cabin. I have taken it into the dealer a few times and of course they can’t find anything wrong. At first I thought it was the rear air suspension but I’m not so sure. At times it seems like it’s coming from the front end. Mine came from the factory with dueler at’s. Was thinking about going to 18” wheels and tires with a bigger side wall but am concerned this may not really target the source of the poor ride.

It does feel like it could be the tires to me. But I am not confident at all that the tires are the issue. Yokohama geolander 265-60-20. The ride is definitely not as smooth. Do you have the hybrid ?

It’s not the tires, it’s the crappy air suspension. I test drove air suspension and the rear felt jittery and loose. It’s really easy to notice the difference when hitting a seam in the road. When the front tires hit the seam, the suspension really soaks up the bump well. But once the rear hits the seam you feel a huge bump and get a lot of bouncing. If you can try to feel how the front reacts to bumps vs the rear.

I have tried about 300 pounds in a bed with no real difference. But that was a long time ago. I think I will try a few hundred pounds more maybe five or 600 and see if that smooths it out. If you are correct this will do the trick.

Taller tires should help this too. Or at least let me say I thought my ride was better after installing my lift, with add a leafs, and going to taller tires.

Sorry that was on my 2014. Just a thought that some of the rough could be from the smaller tires Toyota is putting on this generation to help with mileage.

I have the air on my 1794 and where it rides real smooth on solid roads it does feel like my Corolla on shitty roads. Might just get the trd on my next 1794.

I just put about 500 lbs in and it made no difference. Pretty frustrating.
