Thanks, they were like 1800 more than orielly’s though and I’m a broke loser right now…
You are absolutely correct, I will be triple checking every fluid I drain for ever and ever, even if I’m just taking a piss. But yeah it looked like a homemade pipe bomb went off in there, plus the new fluid I had put back in was already black and smelled burnt.
I will check them out. Thanks
I would love to do it that way but there isn’t a shop (reputable or otherwise) for almost 100 miles.
I’ve been looking into used transmissions, there are some junkyards around, I just don’t know how I feel about trusting them on mileage, and 30 day warranty isn’t always enough time for whatever is going to go wrong to go wrong.
    Do they give a warranty?
So thanks for the input everyone. I’ll keep you posted

Most junk yards give some kinda warranty. Usually like 30-90 days. Some offer extended warranties but you have to pay for it. I personally do not buy those types of warranties.

I have gone the rebuild route and the junkyard route. A rebuild is a lot of money and for an older daily driver I would do a junkyard one. I have probably bought a dozen or so junkyard engines and transmission over the years and really have not had an issue yet. I look for something with low miles if I can. Used engines and transmission are like used cars. Sometimes you are just gonna get a bad one. I would think it will show up pretty quick.

I would look at prices around your area. Around me, it looks like $300-$400. Get a buddy and swap it yourself over a weekend. That would get you back going again and, if you are using the truck to make money, getting some more money coming in. That would be the route I would go.

Yeah that’s probably what I’m going to do. There are a few near me between 90-130 thousand miles for 4-600$. I’m going to get her running and sell while she’s tip top, try to get something a little smaller, better on gas. Little 4x4 taco or something
