3rd reverse light not working

Anyone have a clue why my 3rd reverse light only working when doors open? When I put on reverse it wont light up. I would like to know before I bring it to the dealership.

It won’t light up when you put the truck in reverse. It’s controlled by the switch on the dash that says cargo light. It’s not for backing up. I’ve never seen a truck where it did that. I would think it would be blinding when looking over your shoulder to look behind you and the bed of the truck is lit up in front of you.

Yep, with LEDs it works great on the tailgaters at night.

When you have rear facing pods at eye level it works great

 

It doesn't work because it's not a reverse light.

I swear I've seen it on when I tested it with my leds. I must be seeing things lol.

 

Or open the door while backing up.

 

My pods only work in reverse. I had a Ford with a switched rear facing KC daylighter on a light bar. When I switched it on you could see everything in the cab of the vehicle behind me.

 

I can confirm that. Those and my rear bumper lights really put some light in their life lol.
