Recommendations for a new Head Unit

Hello. My old head unit is just about dead and I'm in the market for a new one and looking for recommendations. I'd like to spend no more than $500-600, though I can up that a tad if it has the right features and reliability. It will go in a 2007 Tundra Double Cab SR5.

I mainly use it for listening to music.

I mainly use my phone for navigation.

Carplay is not that important to me as most of my music is on a USB stick.

Sound quality and ease of use are important.

Listening to music on youtube is important to me.

Input your vehicle’s info. Then filter the wants for radio. It will populate what you picked. It will give you some idea on what is currently available and cost. They will also tell you what you will need to make installation easier.

 

CarPlay takes your phones features and puts them on your head unit. Sounds like you’re describing a radio that does CarPlay. Your maps, your music, everything will be on the head unit when your phone is connected. The Pioneer DMH-160BT is available at Walmart for $299 in my area and has a 7” screen and CarPlay.

Crutchfield is a great resource. I'm just seeing if there are any brands that are recommended or that I should stay away from or features that are really good to have.

 

Most places have inflated prices or are sold out of many of the units (crutchfield everytime I check). Wally World had them units on the shelf. Crutchfield has always been a go to, they had nothing a few months ago. Like zero.

 

Stay on the main brand to have less issue with quality. Pioneer, kenwood/jvc, alpine, sony.

 

Save and buy a better one

 

Love my Kenwood. Had it for 2.5 years so far.
