    Tundra.

EV's are not ready yet. they do a certain job. some jobs they do quite well. they really suck at others stuff....like range & refueling.

like I said way back...I got the Plaid to whoop ass. it's a bother to travel long distances. >300 miles

    <rant on>
gander at the Ford Lighting...it's quite awful at being a truck doing truck things. but the legacy media paints it as a panacea.

the Tesla does most everything right & crickets. not a word.

supercharging - is the BEST charging method avail today.....by a huge factor. way-out technology. it will be years before anyone approaches it. Now, the US is going to fund the oppositions charging methods.

We have an Kia EV car and the Tundra truck, and it is a great pairing.

Wife’s Kia EV cost $32K after rebates. That still means some added upfront purchase price (over non-EV version) recouped within 5 yrs using cheap hydro for electricity. The added carbon cost of manufacturing the EV is recouped within 1 year because hydro is very low CO2.

We use the EV for most driving, it is literally 10X cheaper (per mile) to fuel than the truck. The Tundra only gets used for towing and off-grid adventures.

Tesla. I sold my Tundra a couple of years back. I never used it for what it should have been used for. I probably spent more time making sure its spotless than anything lol. Also, less room in the garage. I love having the instant torque, fantastic technology, OTA updates, and proven reliability (like Toyota).

excellent points....in 6300 miles, I have done NOTHING to the Tesla*. nothing. <ok, the flats were a thing>

and the performance stuff is exponentially better than ICE's. simple acceleration is instantly gut wrenching. unlike ICE.

my selfish thought while driving it....NOTHING can beat me - from a dig or any speed. it's quite a nice feeling.

...and our supercharger is next to a Rudy's BBQ.

*I did a drain & fill on the Tundra last weekend....it was brutal. Valhalla shields are my antithesis.

Teslas are pretty much maintenance free other than your cabin air filter and tires :burnrubber: so long as nothing mechanically pops up. Have you ever been to a Tesla service center? I was there today (they warrantied a very small paint blemish I found). The shops are sooooo quiet without all of the engines, its just nuts.

They say the brakes last a lifetime due to the regen

our A/C coolant leaked out...fixed in under an hour. nice place. the Westhiemer location in Houston.

they knew what was wrong before I got there.....

got a Model Y as loaner.

I have seen only 2 other Model S Plaids. and only 1 MX Plaid. Y'all need to step it up.;)

    to add:

when the Tundra is dialed in <and the intercooler pump is actually working!>...my best rpm zone for TQ is 3000-4500. 518ft/lbs.

it is not even comparable to the Tesla. it simply slams you into the seat at any speed.

it's the feeling you want your ICE engine to have - but would cost ~$100k to achieve.

I don't have my M3 yet but I would have to say Tundra, for the hunting/towing aspect alone. Need that bed for hauling firewood too!

20K miles on the Kia EV … zero maintenance cost. I was initially sour on buying a vehicle where the nearest dealer was 1 hr away, but the EV hasn’t needed diddly except a tire rotation.

With hints that Tesla soon is opening their USA charging network to non-Tesla owners (as they do in Europe), there is every reason to consider any/all EV brands, especially to save some dough.

    Nice.

Hey, where do you find that screen that tracks your cost of charging at home?
Do you have to plug in your power company info or does it know your cost per kwh?

    What are you pulling?

I'll be running my circuit at home soon, probably #6's on a 50A breaker.

Sorry, just saw you said 12 amps.

    You converted it to a 240V, 20A?
No room for a bigger circuit in the panel?

I typically charge at 25 amp to be honest. I charge overnight, wake up with a full charge (70%). The only time I charge at 48 amp's is when I have more driving that anticipated and have a small window to juice it up.

I had a week where I needed to use the 12amp wall charger (wife kicked me out of the house when she had COVID) and I was barely covering what I used from my daily commute.

I'd have to double check. I am no electrician, I had a local shop (work neighbors) install it for me.

I'd guess that it has to be a 60A breaker if I am running 48 amps on the charger!

And you’ll be researching to learn more as it gets addicting lol - especially when a new software update is available. You can Google it, or it’ll tell you what was updated when you get into your vehicle.

I might pick up some 3D floor mats, those seem to be the brand to get.

Wheels / tires eventually; definitely going to go 18-19"
Ill eventually debadge and re-badge with black logos instead. Idk why Tesla blackouts everything else but leaves the chrome emblems on lol
