I replaced my clockspring with an OEM 300.00 unit, followed the videos & instructions I found 100% spun the clockspring until there was resistance, spun it back, counted 5 turns (it said 5 turns on it) & spun it back 2.5. Need to figure it out, I have a total of 3 16.00 eBay CS coming but prefer to only use 1.

I'd appreciate insights into what went wrong so I don't have to do this over & over.

    Thanks

I used what looked like that when I replaced my lockspring. The orange tab is left in place intil the last second before install. That clockspring comes ready to install without setting anything. Just make sure you put it back in as the old position. Good luck

I just replaced mine over the weekend ($15 on eBay). Pull the pin just before installing the steering wheel. Solved my intermittent cruise control issue.

That $300 unit has the electronic modules on it already. The less expensive clockspring units require that you remove those modules from the old clockspring and put them on the new one. I had to do that on mine. It is what makes the less expensive units less expensive. It is just the clockspring without the electronics.

So I don't know about the more expensive clock springs. I had a $13 ebay one replaced on my truck that had issues with cruiser and horn. Replaced it and both worked no problems.

So even if you need to exchange the electric components from your old clock spring. I think it's worth it to get the cheap one and get them replaced. Must not be too hard. Just be careful and it can be done.

I usually perform a thorough cleaning to a faulty module or attempt to fix it before I buy because I cleaned the CS on this truck and the CC is working again.
