Hi all, installed Scan Gauge for trans temp monitoring prior to long trip with a 6500 lb travel trailer this summer.

EZ install - was able to get the Trans Temp pan code entered and reading data, but all codes I tried for the torque converter did not display, even changed the RXD to 3808 per member HT Green post from Dec 2019.

I contacted Scan Gauge to have them determine what the other points / TXD, RXD filters are for. Using scan gauge website for the codes. My version is 4.53 which is the latest.

Any ideas or info is appreciated. Thanks, Coolhand

I just went through this on my 20 doing a drain and fill a couple weeks ago. Had to run out and buy a scan gauge after overfilling my trans and discovering that my dlc doesn’t have pins 4 and 13. The third one on that list worked for me.

Thanks ! That one I believe is pan temp. Will post what Scan Gauge has to say on my inquiry.

I had the temp displayed on my OBD MX+. I don't know if I can help you at all. I ultimately just started monitoring the pan temp because tc changes a ton but pretty much stays in line with the temp of the pan.
Just do 4qts. Drain the pan. Put 4qts, call it day. I've done it 3 times now and did the check bolt thing with the temp once, really not worth the hassel.

I worry about the “tolerance stack” over the next 20 years of drain/fills. Couple oz here or there and eventually I’m 2 qt low…

Oh no, you'll be over, if you do 4qts in the pan and then do the check procedure you will have some come out each time. The pan is always going to drain out what you put in last time so basically by doing 4qts you'll always be a little over but the amount you are over is going to drain out next time. This is from my experience anyways. I did one drain and fill and didnt check, just put in what came out, 4qts~. Did another drain and fill and decide to do the check procedure, got about a half qt out. Did my last drain and fill, about 4qts came out. So I said screw it and just put 4qts in and called it a day. If you check you pan and get about 4qts out, then put 4qts in you'll be good to go and not low. Now if you drained the pan and didn't get about 4qts out then Id be concerned and do a check procedure. To each his own though, do what ever makes you feel like the jobs done correctly.

Hi here is response from Scan Gauge. Not very helpful. Likely did not get an engineer that understands the sensors and ECU. Pan temp is Ok, TC would be nice.
