I actually thought this option was removed from new trucks because of the "chip shortage" .. but driving new vehicle today... pulled up to stop and it shut off ... for like 2 seconds then restarted. Did that at every stop. VERY annoying. Found I could turn it off, but it came back on when I restated the truck. Doesn't seem like much of a 'gas savings' if it's only off for a second or two. Is there somewhere to adjust or was the 'fix' for th chips to just immediately restart it?

    Thanks...

Ford was removing the feature because of the chip shortage but I don't think Toyota ever was, different machines so different needs I guess.

Also the system (for better or worse) is designed to activate and deactivate based on brake pedal pressure so it's pretty easy to trip it and have it switch off if you don't put your foot all the way down.

No way to permanently disable it as far as I'm aware, just make it past of your routine when you start the truck.

don't know if it would set a CEL or make anything else stop working, or if it will ding at you, but you could prob unplug the hood latch switch and it wont ever auto shut off

Just don’t press so hard on the break. When you stop it will give you a option in you’re cluster to ‘press harder on break’ to start/stop. It will also say that it won’t because of battery charging or climate control, like AC seats or low AC temps. If you use the hold button it try to stop/start every stop but you can control it with you’re foot with every drive mode.

I’m a light foot so I hardly ever set it off but I do turn it off when I remember.

Thanks for the info ... I'll give it a try tomorrow. I really like the truck and it keeps amazing me. It's great to be back in a Toyota.

it freaked me out a little when it first happened to me. I learned to press lightly. I wonder how this wears on the starter and battery over time.

I'd say it's probably only going to affect extremely long term owners, even my BMW that's 11 years old is still going strong and it has a very aggressive stop/start so if a BMW can withstand it im sure a Toyota will easily get 20 years out of the starter.
