I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra Limited with non-JBL stereo. I'd like to keep the head unit and replace the speakers and amp. I've never done anything like this. Can I do it myself? I'm thinking Taco tunes. Any other good places like Taco tunes?

    @james@tech12volts can help you.
I wouldn't buy any electronics from taco tunes, but they do make a nice speaker adapter..

For all your car audio and video needs (tech12volts.com)

There are hundreds of threads on audio builds.
Try a search and see if you can find some.
Replacing the radio (HU) will help your sound more than anything.
You can use an iDatalink Maestro to retain your steering wheel controls.

A short rundown of what you have:
The stock Entune radio essentially sucks.
Toyota designed the system to have the best(?) performance, with the cheapest products.
That includes the speakers and the factory amp.
In your non-JBL, the dash speakers act as high-mids and tweeters and are powered directly off the radio.
The door speakers are powered by the passenger side underseat amp.

It is my understanding the radio sends front low signals to the amp and then the front doors.
Your front door speakers don't have any high-end.
    It's pretty much a 6x9 woofer.

The rear doors are full range from the amp.
If you have a double cab you'll have 1 6.5" speaker in the door.
If you have a crewmax you might have an additional tweeter in the rear door.

Most aftermarket speakers are 4 or 8 ohm.
The OEM Entune speakers are not.
The front door is a 2 ohm.
Also, note the tiny speaker magnet.

The dash side speakers are 6 ohm, the center speaker is a dual voice coil 8 ohm.

They used these to give the most uhmp, with the lowest amp wattage.
Also, the Entune radio has a bass roll off.
Meaning the higher the volume, the less low end is sent to the speakers.

You can bypass and remove/replace the underseat amp with this.
That way you aren't cutting any OEM wiring..

But you'll need a clean signal into the amp, by using an LOC or DSP to sum the front door signal and make it full range again.
Audio Control makes some nice ones..

Of course, if you replace the radio, you won't have to worry about the summing, LOC, and DSP stuff.
Your new HU will have a clean signal to the amp, be it low-level RCA jacks, or using an amp that accepts speaker-level inputs.

I'm only telling you all this so you don't go to a local audio shop and have them tell you a bunch of bull shit.
The local shops around Dallas are famous for that..

Search for some threads and do some reading.
A lot on the forum to be found..

    Good luck...
