    Hello all,

I am new here and this is my first post. I live in Oregon but am originally from Hawaii - the land of Toyotas!

I stumbled across this forum looking for information on canopies as my go to (ARE) seems to still be a bit out on their molds for the '22's so I'm looking for options.

I just picked up a new '22 DoubleCab SR5 in blueprint with the premium offroad package. Prior to this amazing new truck I've been driving an '04 DoubleCab SR5 in charcoal that I bought brand new 18 years ago and now has 240K miles on it. I still have the old one as it is a cherished member of our family and I and might pass it along to one of my kids.

I do a lot of driving around in the mountains in adverse conditions as our family is really into winter sports. We also carry around a lot of surfboards, snowboards, camping gear.... a lot of gear!

I will have questions about larger tire sizes, canopy options and window tint to start off as I try and dial my truck in to be a bit more specific to my families needs.

    Aloha!

P.S. here are a few photos of my trucks:

I love it. I grew up Maui and spent a lot of time east side and lots of the PNW is a similar vibe. Lush and beautiful with deep forests and spectacular coastline. Obviously it's a lot colder most of the year but you get used to it. We still get back home to visit but this is a good place to be.

Thanks! I'm in Bend. Lived in Portland for a couple years a long time ago and still have some good friends in the Beaverton area. My kids used to compete in track so we were always at Liberty Highschool - not really Beaverton but close I guess.

Almost, they just need longer legs... With the environment here being humid and wet most of the time, the dogs are constantly wet or dirty, so I reserve the '08 for getting them out and about and keep my '21 clean and not smelling like wet dog (for now)...

Any of those North County Beach Communities are a fabulous to live. Glad you enjoyed your stay here in San Diego. :)

On our last vacation we were in Bend on a road trip. Visited Sweet Home, Oregon and then made our way to the coast and headed south. Sadly, many of the Oregon and Northern Cal beach communities were socked in with fog so we didn't get to see much. It cleared up later in the day when we stopped in Crescent City.

Bend is a beautiful city ~ I could see myself living there easily.
I'd have to get new license plates for our vehicles ~ folks in Oregon aren't fond of us moving there from California and screwing up their nice community ! :eek2:
    Can't say that I blame them . . .

Yeah lots of Californians moving up here. But that's like everywhere. There's just as many people moving here from Washington too. Haha. It's always best to get your plates changed quick wherever you move so as to fit in a bit better but when 1/2 or more of the people you come across are also transplants does it really matter?

Too bad you had the coastal fog to contend with on your trip. The best time to hit the coast and have a chance at good weather is between July 4th and mid September. It can be amazing out there during those times. The rest of the year it's a crap shoot and can have some really bad weather. I think this spring was one of the wettest, windiest ones in a long time.

We lived in Leucadia from '97 to '05. Spent most of my 20's there. It was great. Sometimes I wonder why we left.

Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. Love that deep blue color of your truck. If you like things a little cooler, give Minnesota a try. It’s a dry cold.... oh, and we say “uff da!”

My other half visited Bend several times a year for 8-9 years. Her dad was in a bed and care facility, and she would fly up, rent a car and stay at the Shilo Inn. On one visit her rental car had the dreaded California license plates ~ she got honked at several times on that trip. We had friends retire and move to Lakeside, Oregon. Before they left California, they acquired the Oregon plates for all their vehicles.

I used to fancy myself as a motorcyclist and we would ride the PCH from San Diego to Monterey and beyond in July. Even then much of the coastline was overcast and cool. We made one trek where it was sunny for the most part. The west coast can be quite fickle at times, weather wise anyway.

I know you're enjoying a more peaceful and less hectic environment that Oregon presents !
