Let's Talk Knives

This arrived today. Ray is great to work with. Th e passion and craftsmanship in talking to him and the finished product are second to none.

 

That thing is pure functional beauty.

 

Added another @gosolo knife as well. Excellent craftsmanship in both the knife and sheath. Can't wait to put this new one to the test.

Beautiful knife. Is there bluish colors in the blade? Or is that reflection? I would love to get into making folders, but I have my hands full as it is, lol

 

Mark, 45 years ago I started to get into gunsmithing, had a small lathe and mill. Had I pursued that, I might be making knives like this, today. Such a completely different path. I have no regrets, but I love this kind of work too.
Another thing that I wish I could do (and might try someday) is engraving.

 

Took your advice @gosolo and added a reflective fire cord necklace to the little skinner.

 

I’m liking that, a lot! Color matched the knife scales too.

 

Remember when we talked about packing knives for trips? This is all of the utensils in our kitchenette….which also includes five coffee mugs and one glass.
Shoulda brought the cheap set of knives from home!

 

Stay w/fixed blades... A folded blade would only hide the majority of your work and the aesthetics of your craft!

 

Always fun to sit down to a romantic dinner with your blushing bride, open up a bottle of fine wine and pour it into a coffee mug, lol. It’s a step up from the red solo cup!

 

Do you do rock-paper-scissors to decide who has to use the serving spoon to eat cereal in the morning?

 

Told the kids on the first morning I’d already used one of the spoons…licked it clean and put back in the drawer. They haven’t used any of them since.

Made some nice marks in the plastic plates using one of the dinner knives to slice an apple (no cutting board).

 

Wow - that really tops the list for cheap rentals.

 

My brother gave me this awesome Rambo knife for my birthday, it’s so beefy.

Have a few Benchmades. The right is a Griptilian. The left I have no clue, I actually found it at work. I have two others. A but they are in my duty belt and plate carrier and I’m not able to grab at pic at the moment.

 

Dunno. I am not a knife expert by any means, but that knife on the left looks like a Spiderco clone. The butterfly stamp in the handle looks strange too. So a cheap Chinese copy with fake Benchmade stamps?

 

Blade is stamped benchmade as well. Like I said, it was found. Lots of aged dirt on the handle. I’ll see if I can get a pic of the blade stamp.

 

Upon further review, it looks to be an early to mid 90’s Benchmade Eclipse
