    From factory TRD off road package with 275/65/r18 TRD wheels;
    I have a 17 tundra 4x4 with the off road trd package (the package is just upgraded shocks i think) wearing 275/65/r18 realtreks (i think ht, will have to check when i get home). We are taking a trip to long island and during our trip we will be going to the beach.

    On the off chance the beach allows us to drive on it, can i do so with these tires? Wont have a chance to get different tires before the trip. If so any tips on using the 4x4 mode on the sand. Its my first 4x4 truck and really dont want to be the guy who got his 4x4 stuck lol

    Air down your tires to about 12-15 PSI. I used to run that pressure in Carova NC, and didn't even need 4x4 for some of it. If you're going to be on and off road, get yourself a decent compressor so you don't have to use the ones at the gas station. Other than that, make sure you have some decent recovery tools and learn how to use them. (Snatch strap, folding shovel, etc.) Have fun!

    Air down and put her in 4LO. I drove my Platinum with stock tires onto dry sand fully loaded with camp gear, 4 dogs, a roof box and a grill on the hitch.

    15-20psi, a *proper* tow strap, shovel, and some old beach towels and you’ll be dandy.

    Nice. Im thinking of doing something similar and wasnt sure about doing overlays or just taking the chrome off and putting on black. How do the overlays hold up? And issues with them coming loose or anything?

    Air down, and don't be afraid to give it some power. When in doubt air down more!

    Yup just don't keep throttling if you get stuck cuz you'll just dig yourself in more. I learned 4LO is the way to go on sand, seen people overheat the tranny in 4HI, no need for 4HI with the speed you'll be doing on sand, I guess unless maybe you were racing dunes lol.
