I guess unless you own a 2022 it’s pretty tough really know what nice truck it is, (coming from our last 2019 tundra and 18 before that) toyota did a great job imo and I am quite pleased my 1794 was about $13K less than a comparable f150. Funny there are so few around we get asked at least once a week “is that the new tundra… wow”.

Nope. Nothing will beat the older Toyotas. Even my 2.5 Gen is rugged as hell with solid bumpers and no frills. 2022 looks more like a sport truck to me.

Sick of things after a whopping 12 postings? Relax my friend and enjoy the forum. There’s plenty of Gen 1, 2, 2.5 and 3 owners here with a diverse line of thought and lots of wisdom.

Had my first chance to look at two 22s in person this week. A SR5 and a Platinum. I took my wife's Highlander in for a 100k service and had some time to kill. This was nice because I was able to tell the sales person to "grab the keys, I'm just passing time waiting for your service department to finish." I wasn't test driving them so they didn't have a problem. Both were already sold but literally just got delivered that morning and had not been prepped for the customers. I only wanted to look anyway so it worked out.

First off the dreaded foo-man-choo front end... If it is not color matched (SR5) it is HORRIBLE. When color matched (Platinum in white) the whole front end comes together nicely, and you don't even see the stache anymore. But anything other than a color matched is a hard pass for me.
Next the profile of the truck looks good if you don't focus on the rear bumper thing that just looks misplaced or something. But the overall side view of the truck is positive.
    The rear...
"Oh no!" I said. "What happened here?"
It looks like they are on to something cool, and then got sidetracked with trying too hard to make a statement. I don't mind the middle of the back of the truck, but the dam corners bother me at a nerve level. It's really just the bumper corner thing that ends in the wrong place or something just doesn't jive. Not a deal breaker, it's just styling, but man, it just doesn't make sense. We'll at least they are not boring! (or something!). Lol
Overall exterior impression is positive minus the rear corners and a monochromatic front trim like I saw on the Platinum is the only way to go. I only looked at the SR5 briefly because it had the unfavorable front end and quite, frankly it was unimpressive.

    Interior
I have to say Toyota did a great job reworking the dash and the overall feel of the cab. The seats were not as comfortable and slightly smaller than my 17' Platinum, but I wasn't uncomfortable sitting in the truck at all. The big screen is beautiful, the dash is clean, the compartments and amenities felt like a nice upgrade too. I finally got to listen to the JBL radio as well and though it is an improvement over past gens, I feel I would still be definitely tweaking it down the line. Rear seats were definitely tighter than previous but not uncomfortable to any realistic degree. I'm 6' 200# and wouldn't complain sitting back there.

    Overall opinion:
    Thumbs up.
It won't take much to tweak the smaller things and make this truck absolutely beautiful. Some members have already done that here. The aesthetic negatives are minor and thankfully not in view when you're in the driver's seat!
I would love to drive one for a further review of the whole shibang but up close and personal inside and out, I have to say I like it... The interior more than the exterior but nonetheless it works. Hopefully Toyota works out the bugs and we see this truck become more of what all our reliability expectations had in mind. I don't see selling my 17 anytime soon, but if I was in the market I would definitely still be on team Tundra's side.

That's because the rest of your post sounded like the intro to Crazy Train. That and it was filled with anecdotal instances and made up percentages.

Obviously you don't see the value, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But you got me good. Oh man your emojis just make it even more adorable.

I still think msrp is a buy. Over it is a no. It’s why I passed on my pro. Couldn’t justify the overage.

I passed on a 2021 because it has things I don't like and consider my '05 superior to the 2.5 gens too but you don't see me going into their section bashing them.

To be fair I think this thread started under general discussion and was later moved. Either way the thread title is inviting opinions, and of course we all have them and are happy to share. After all it is a Forum. Forum (noun): a place, meeting, or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Agreed....just not too thrilled with the roll out. Titan still rules as the fuglyest truck! The new Tundra does have some interesting styling happening going on tho. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Don't judge a book by its cover. I'm trying to come up with some more cliché s..ha!

Ugly grill check. Big screen check. Payload about the same as my truck check. I don't need no stinking Tundra.
