E3EFFB3D-F672-4F42-94CB-03B524A275F6.jpg We’ve been to several places and gotten no answers as to why our front drivers side tire keeps going bald on the inner half. Today, a shop told us that it’s because we didn’t get new control arms with the leveling kit. Is this a possibility? I don’t want to spend $700 on upper control arms if it isn’t going to fix the problem. The alignment is done, but the shop said we will still run through tires without new control arms.

    help please?

    thank you.

note: I know the photo looks wrong for drivers front. The shop said they had to move it to the back to use a better tire in the front for the alignment.

I call BS. You really shouldnt need new UCA unless you are at 3+ inches of lift. You could have the wrong camber on your alignment, or your toe could be off on that side. There could also be a worn out suspension component. How long are you going between alignments and do you have the spec sheet of your last one?

It’s been a year since alignment until today. They said the toe was off, and they fixed it, but that it wouldn’t fix the abnormal wear. They didn’t give us the spec sheet, but I will see if they can email it to me.

Does your truck track pretty straight or does it drift?

The alignment spec sheet would answer alot of questions.

OP this sounds like a joke but it's the literal truth all over the place right now. It is really hard to find good alignment shops that know what they are doing with trucks and heavier duty vehicles like these.

This is why I recently helped drive on a 17 hour round trip with a buddy to buy a nice older Hunter alignment machine. He already has a 4 post alignment hoist.

Well, first try, his truck (Dodge 3500) is driving better than it ever has. And he paid 3 different shops good money to do alignments in the previous 2 years, not to mention the cost of the increased tire wear over that time.

My Tundra going for a visit soon, since mine is still where I set it with a digital angle finder, an eyeball, and a tape measure after I installed 6112’s. It drives surprisingly well, but not perfect.

We’re been there in the past with a tire machine and balancer too. He recently bought me out on the tire machine, originally he bought one and I bought the other. Suddenly the unsolvable balance / shake issues disappeared for us.

And no printout most likely means no alignment was done.

Printout before and after, with alignment specs would be good...i ask ahead of time if that is available..

how often do you rotate your tires? Never? Should be done every 5k miles for best tire wear.
Recommendations on alignment is correct, looks like its off too.

You need a spec sheet. Avoid all places that don't provide a printout of a before and after. These trucks are prone to the alignment cams seizing to the bushings in the LCA and being unable to be adjusted as a result. Double check that its not seized. I had to sawzall my previous seized cam/bushing out and replaced it and never had an alignment issue again.

Need more info, how much lift are you getting from this leveling kit? I'm already not a fan of those kits because of how they affect the geometry.
