2022 Tundra recall

I just had my 22 tundra recall on the backup camera and the rear axle assembly. all they do is check to make sure that all the bolts on the rear axle assembly are tight. I was informed they had to tighten one bolt. Did both recalls at my local Toyota dealer in EL Cajon Ca, on 06-21-22.

 

The rear axle bolt issue sounds like a production line quality control issue. Not that this is not serious but it sounds like they were not checking to make sure that the bolts were properly torqued to specs.

 

Did my recall at my first oil change. No big deal, and it didn't take any extra time.

 

The problem wasn't a QC issue. They torqued it to what was listed initially. Now they've updated the torque by 25ft lbs. They were going off of bad numbers.

 

Then it’s almost all Tundras affected.

 

It is, every tundra built from November to this month, which is essentially all of them.

 

I have the new TRD Pro. My back seats are getting a little warm. When I checked behind the seats, I can feel heat on the back panel to the point it makes the rear seats extra warm. You can actually feel heat rising from the back seats. Is anyone else having this issue? Probably going to take it in to check out.

 

They need to recall all of them for that gaping hole in the front end.

 

Heated seats stuck on?

 

The model does not have heated seats in the back, just the rear.

 

TRD Pro, you have a big battery under there, & batteries can get hot.

 

That's a good point, I didn't even think about that aspect of the hybrid with the battery being in the back. I wonder how much that truly affects the temp.

 

That is my guess as well. It’s too the point where you can actually feel a lot of heat radiating off the back seats, especially where the seat belt connect. It feels like seat warmers are on. I will most likely contact the dealer tomorrow and see if they have any remedies to this. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this in their 2022 Tundra hybrids.

 

did you notice the heat just sitting there? were you driving down the highway at a steady pace? were you out romping around in the truck with some spirited driving?
it appears that the hybrid has 2 cooling fans to cool down the battery pack

you said the seat back and rear panels are warm, that is where the exhaust vents are pointed for the blowers


so that would make sense why the seats would be warm in those spots

if you were romping on it, i can understand it getting hot, just driving down the highway, not so much

probably best to have your dealer check it out anyway

 

Thank you for the clarifications. Yes, so far it has been daily driving and my wife tells me there is hot air coming up. Definitely will need to see what’s going on. Will update as soon I figure it out. Let me know if anyone has been dealing with this.
