So I recently let my girlfriend drive my truck which was a mistake I think because when she brought it back the check engine light and the traction control light was on I put it on my scanner and it was throwing a code p0705 to the transmission range sensor, I went ahead and went out and bought one brand new install it and now on my instrument panel it doesn't show me which gear its in as far as Park reverse neutral Drive and it keeps throwing the same code p0705 and now when I put it in reverse and start to back up it will take it out of gear and when I shift from Park to drive it slams into gear. I've had the truck for a few years now and everything has been working fine up until now I just don't know what to do does anybody have any suggestions.

    Welcome.

That's a bummer man. I had something similar on a Ford Exploder, ended up needing a rebuild.

Hopefully someone here can chime in.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I would post this question in the Ask The Toyota Mechanic thread. Those guys know their stuff.

Yeah. My suggestion is get a new one. GF, not truck. Early on I learn they didn't have a patent on that thing we like.

I suppose I'm fortunate my wife won't drive my truck.
    Says 'it's too damn big'.
But that's the only thing she ever said that was too big...

If she didn't stop to drain the fluids or cut wires, you can't blame her. Most women drive more carefully than us boys. Welcome.
