Not sure if it was a very smart decision, but the peace of mind is very calming.

I have a 2015 1794 CM Tundra 4x4, that has 223,295 miles on it. I called Infiniti to transfer the warranty on my wife's former QX30 to the new owner, during the call, we talked about the Tundra, and they offered me Powertrain warranty, that gives an additional 5 years and 100,000 miles of coverage, which will carry me to 2027, or 323,000 miles. Whichever comes first (with how much I currently drive, they will both happen roughly the same time). The warranty was $3500, and just basing it on the mileage, I figured If anything bad is going to happen, I'm nearing the time where it should happen. Even if I don't use the warranty, I feel more comfortable having it, just in case something does go wrong.

    Is it also transferable?

And that is what warranties are all about...

Is this a Toyota warranty or an after market company? You said you were transferring an infinity warranty. Infinity is Nissan right. That tends to make me believe it is an after market company.

Does it allow you to use any repair shop or just theirs?

If the warranty gives you peace of mind then congratulations on your purchase.

    Yes it is transferrable

It's from National Vehicle Protection Services, they are one of the companies that the big dealerships (at least around here) use to provide their extended warranties (Nissan, Ford, Chevy, Toyota, etc...) on used cars
I'm allowed to use any ASE certified repair shop.

They are sending me a hardcopy of the official contract, but here is the excerpt from the confirmation email when I finalized the purchase.

    Coverage Plan
    60 Months / 100,000 Miles
    Black Diamond Sapphire
Expired: 7/6/2027 or 324279 whichever occurs first
    Deductible: $100.00

    Important Benefits
    • Claims paid by credit card directly to the repair facility.
    • Honored at the licensed repair facility of your choice.
    • Parts and Labor coverage included.
    • Rental and Towing coverage is included on most plans.
    • Increased vehicle resale value by offering to transfer the warranty to the new owner.

It was a pricey warranty, but prior to signing up for it, I called 6 different warranty companies, and they were either equal to, or lower than the others by $1k-$2k. The warranty would have been considerably cheaper if I wasn't at 223,000 miles.

I think it’s a good purchase at that mileage.

I got an extended warranty through USAA on my 2010 for $3200. Filed a couple of claims that added up to around $4000 (trans cooler leak and wheel bearings). I tried a 3rd claim later for the differential growl and they blamed it on my lift and bigger tires and said they’d deny further claims. So I told them to cancel and give me my prorated refund. I got about $2500 back. Then a few years later I randomly got a check from USAA for the other $700 saying that the warranty didn’t meet their standards.

I used Toyota dealers for the work and never had trouble doing a claim. Toyota did the claims for me.
