I have a 2005 Tundra Double Cab 2WD with just over 250K. I've been slowly converting the truck to a hybrid (I'm currently burning a mixture of both gas and oil) but aim to remedy that here shortly. I've got new head gaskets coming in the mail. I'm replacing the head bolts and depending on the plug coil found conditions I'll replace them as well. What other 250K maintenance items would folks recommend if I've got the valve covers off?

I did have the timing belt / chain and water pump replaced at 100k as part of a exhaust fan foam insulation clogged fuel injector repair issue that luckily the extended warranty covered.

Welcome to the forum. Any extra details on your hybrid conversion? Like, what's the path you're following, where are you at in the process, when do you expect to finish?

We have one other member (paging @daveeasa ) who has been tossing around the idea of going full-electric on his if I recall.

On my ‘05 RC Tacoma, definitely not giving up my Tundra’s v8 until it gives up on me.

I think he means it's currently a gas/oil hybrid, and he's going to un-convert it back to gasoline-only.

TVPierce is correct - my bad attempt at humor. I 'm definitely leaking and burning oil (hence my snarky 'hybrid' comment) and hopefully the head gasket replacement will work and I'll be back to running on just overpriced unleaded.

Do you have reason to think the head gasket is bad? If I was burning gas I'd be more inclined to look at valve seals than thinking the head gasket is bad. Though with that said the best way to do the valve seals would be with the head off most likely.

If you're going to pull the heads, I'd send them off to get surfaced and have new seats ground and new valve seals at a minimum.
