Wow, I removed an old alarm from my 05, They had hacked into all the wiring. Wouldn't start so I had no choice.
Word of advice, Don't lose your remote

Typical. Curious, what brand of alarm was installed? You can sometimes find the manufacturer/model number embossed on the plastics, on a sticker of the main brain, or sometimes on the circuit board after cracking the case open (many alarm brains are in a clamshell to allow access to dispswitches, batteries or other stuff).

Got pics? And is it running now?!

I had to do the same on my '05... it was a rat's nest of wires that came out, and I had to splice back several main wires where they had cut the wire to splice in. :-/ But end result was good and removed a lot of variables for potential issues.
