2007 2013 tundra small v8

this tundra is giving me the blues...runs fine then wont upshift,the the dash lights come on.. i can undo battery cable for a minute and all goes back to normal..would changing the computer box fix this or do i need to unload the truck..these boxes a
are pricy...who would you buy one of the
se boxes from?

 

How about put a scanner on it and read the troubles codes. The computer functions based on data it is feed from sensors ect. It is only doing what it thinks is right. When it is not seeing somthing it beleives to be correct it throws a trouble code. Reasons for the lights on your dash.

The trouble code could potentailly really help isolate the problem. Bad reading from a sensor or somthing ect.

The engine ECU controls all transmission function on these trucks also.

Read the trouble codes and post them back here. Throwing a replacement computer at it most likely wont help anything.

 

thanks jeff...i have a code reader and it told me that it was the computer...i was just on a trip to central tx and it did it again..would not upshift the dash light came on..as i said i undid the battery and i was on my way home..didnt have the reader with me...what i was after was which of the computer chips(computer) some are cheaper than other and it might be what i get... im looking for someone who has had this experience...thanks

 

So this vehicle is current on trans fluid changes? Will it upshift if you let off the throttle at about the point it should shift up?

 

If you manually select 6th will it upshift? What is the code number it's throwing?
