In the words of John Lennon…”people say I’m crazy, doin’ what I’m doin”. Last year I traded my ‘19 Platinum (my 7th) for a ‘21 Platinum (my 8th) for the simple reason that I bought the ‘19 right before covid at a $7k discount, when there were lots of Tundras on the lots with big rebates and dealer discounts. 2 years later while in for service I was offered almost the original MSRP to trade on the only ‘21 Tundra on the dealer’s lot. So I bought it. Fast forward a year… out of curiosity I test the waters to see how the ‘21 would fare selling or trading in today’s climate. The best offer I received was $2500 less than I paid for the ‘21, which was MSRP. So I sold it, reasoning that driving a $57k truck for a year for $200/mo. Is pretty darn good. I then purchased my 9th Tundra….a Cement 2018 SR5 Dbl. Cab, 2WD with all the packages, running boards, new(er) K02s, battery, all weathers and I had my TRD Exhaust from the ‘21 Platinum installed. I truly only need a Tundra to tow our Lance 2285. I store the camper and my tow vehicle during the winter since we use my wife’s SUV for Ohio winter driving. I don’t need 4wd. This 2018 was well maintained by the previous owners plus it was an Arizona vehicle. The headlights have aged prematurely due the the intense sun I guess. The rest of the truck is immaculate. And this Cement color is so easy to keep looking nice compared to the ‘21, which was midnight black…ugh. So, this is #9,#9,#9,#9….(to quote the Beatles again) 287D0CB8-F050-4A8A-BD4C-2DAFFB1997F4.jpg

I mean when you lay it all out like that it kinda makes sense. Although, I see you neglected to tell the story behind tundras 1-6…..:monocle:

jk I’m sure that’s just a lifetime of truck ownership. Definitely a statement of loyalty for the brand. By the sounds of it, 10 should be here sooner than later ;)

Lol! Yes, it “kinda” makes sense. Actually my 2014 SR5 that I bought new would still suffice for towing my current camper and keeping it would have made the most sense. That was my 3rd Tundra. At the time I was towing a pop-up (overkill) and traded it after a year on my first FJ Cruiser, which towed it fine. I guess what it boils down to this is I have an addiction to buying and selling vehicles. I am 70 years old and my 9th Tundra is the 72nd vehicle I have purchased or leased since I turned 17. At the present time I have declared a moratorium on any vehicle purchases for at least the next 3 years…and I have no plans on buying another Tundra as I don’t see us camping @ 80 years old. This ‘18 should last another 10 years since I only put 3-5,000 miles a year on any truck I have owned.
