Some kind of etching on my stock wheels. I assume they are the original wheels and probably had some etching when I bought it from the dealer and it’s gotten worse. I do live in New England so a lot of road salt. I went through a car wash a few times this past winter but I decided I’m done with that and will only wash the truck myself from now on. Anyone seen anything similar to this?

Definitely looks like salt damage. Not sure what can be done for them tho. Try posting it in the detailing section also maybe someone has some ideas. I hate nj winters and salt.

Yep, road salt sitting on the finish and the soaps used in auto washes are harsh and can degrade finish over time. Luckily the Tundra OR wheels are easily found and not too costly. Finding a new one or set may be cheaper than trying to fix or powdercoat those.

Yup. The finish got damaged and the aluminum is corroding. Only way to really fix it properly is to strip everything down, repaint, and clear coat.

Usually comes from a small chip then salt corrosion under the clear coat. I had a set of Konig wheels I had on a car years ago that got all chipped up at discount tire from their tire iron and the finish went bad on them in one winter.

I've seen companies all over that will machine wheels and re-coat to make them look brand new. Its usually about $400 per wheel minimum around where I am. Finding a used set like frichco228 suggested above is a better deal.
