Dumb question: Do most covers lock or at least secure your belongings inside?

Thread title says it all. I was looking at the Tonneau comparison chart and it lists Lock : No for every cover.

 

I think while many of them don't offer a "lock" mechanism in the way of a key hole, many if not all latch down into the bed rail system. Then your hopefully, locking tail gate kind of creates that locking seal.

Secondary thought just in case - not many if any, are waterproof, but water resistant.
Just putting that out there.

I have seen several threads on sealing things up better. I won't have anything back there that can't get wet or at least damp.

Most are "pretty waterproof"
Mine is el cheapo and i rarely get any water inside, and without any extra effort. I'm also like you, i don't carry anything (loosely) back there that can't get wet, and the stuff that can't get wet is ALWAYS in a waterproof container. I use my truck and don't put granny's ancient doilies back there. Mostly tools and recovery gear

Dude! You know all kinds of things, specifically how to talk your wife into lining up a PRO Tundra when you already have a 14 month old Tundra. Trust me, you obviously know something the rest of us dont

Most all do have a lock but it's ment to keep honest people honest and will not present much of a factor to thwart someone with a crowbar and bad intentions.

 

As far as trifold and soft tops, they don't have a lock. Shutting your tailgate and locking it is the best you can do.

Besides those with a lock can easily be broken into with a crowbar and a few minutes

 

I love my Roll-N-Lock tonneau. The lock and latches seem pretty secure and I have only seen a few drops of water get in by the tail gate after a heavy downpour. As far as breaking in with a crowbar, that can be said about almost everything.

I've seen quite a few of the rigid tri folds that lock (had one on a work truck once) but like @Law323 said, they're pretty easy to break into.

 

I guess the only thing that would be the closest thing to theft proof is diamondback tonneau.

 

For me this is a good combination: the drawers lock, the tailgate locks, the shell locks, everything stays dry and it's all out of sight
