Anyone found a way on how to add charging and connectivity to the rear of the center console for passengers yet?? Pretty damn sad that it’s not something standard on SR5 or Limited trims for a truck in the year of 2022..

There’s a couple threads in the 2.5 gen forum for this. I don’t know how much the 3rd gen changed the center console, but it isn’t terribly difficult in the 2.5s. I think I’m shocked…beyond shocked…they didn’t fix this shit in the 3rd gen/2022s. Seriously absurd.

Odd that it has 3 leads.
Might be a switch plug for an accessory.

Bust that DMM out and get to testing..:D

    The middle one is ground.
What are the other 2, ACC, BAT, or nothing?

It would be nice if it’s already pre wired and all you need is the USB port or 120v outlet!

My limited does have ports in the rear
    1 USB. and 1 USB-c
Not sure how its wired, I wonder if you tie into the wiring for the charger inside the center arm rest.

Is there still a USB port in the console on the 2022?
You could tap into that circuit and power some USB plugs in the rear..
Or even a 12volt plug in the dash if they still have them.

Many on Amazon of different sizes and configurations.

sorry, no context for my pictures, mine is a SR5 off road, Canadian truck. I’m hoping to be able to get oem ports and plug and play. I think this picture is from a limited F02431AF-484E-46FD-9C06-72E357B9D29E.jpg

I’ve pulled apart the rear of console. Pretty easy. Just pull up on rear cup holder and the rear panel just pull back. All held on by clips.

I wanted to see if there is the harness there for the USB plug but there is none unfortunately for us SR5 owners. I just have the 400W plug.
    upload_2022-3-22_11-37-56.jpg

I did find the part number for the USB ports and connector part number. Also the wiring diagram for it. Possible a small project I may do later. It just splices into the harness of the USB port inside the console with 2 wires.

No. 2 USB Charger Socket is the rear USB port.

Connector plug for the USB charger part#. Terminal 1 is power, terminal 2 is ground.
Wire part# that plug into the connector to create a little pigtail connector.
Then just got to splice into the harness of the USB port inside the console.

Add one more thing to the list of items that got deleted from the previous gen 2.5. My 2020 had way more content for less money. To bad it was stolen. :(

So did you ever get around to doing this? Curious because it is something I am considering as well.

No. Haven't done it yet as I don't really need it yet. More of a want, so will be a future project. Currently waiting for my wheels and suspension stuff to do first.

It looks real simple to me since I'm pretty good with wiring and I have access to the instruction on how to take apart the console to do it.

I purchased the 120v/100w plug and it goes right into the plug 1lowlife plugged in. It doesn’t power on. I was wondering if I need to get the switch installed in the dash along with an additional fuse? From what I can gather this far I need the 80 amp INV fuse?

I got an SR5 Cremax with the Sr5 premium package.

I just want the 100 watts to work so I don’t have to run usb cables from the front to the back for the kids games. Traded in a gladiator and the abundance of plugs is the main thing I miss at the moment.

My wife has a 21 telluride with third row. Each seat has a USB port accessible at a short reach on the seat in front of them. This would be nice on the tundra but since it’s the kids and not me, I don’t sweat it much :)

It’s not really an issue, if I would have cared too much more I could have held out for an allocation. I just got lucky and got one pretty much same day I decided I wanted one. The main reason for the trade was to tow and longer trips. Plus running a long cable to the back is not that hard lol i was mostly hoping for an easy add lol

You need an inverter to convert 12V DC to 120V AC. Definitely wouldn’t be included in the wiring.

The limited has 5 USB ports total, 3 up front and 2 in the rear. SR5 only has the 3 up front.
So I'm trying to figure out how to mount some in back without spending $175 at the Toyota parts department.

It looks like all of those Amazon USB assemblies are 32x22mm. The Tundra needs 44x22mm.

I guess I should have gone looking online for the 85532-08040 assembly. You can get them on ebay for $20.
Get the 90980-12D25 connector and the 82998-24290 wire and you are all set.
I just need to do exactly like it's spelled out in post 12.

For everything it was $60 shipped.

I just got the connector reference in the diagram above....question I have is: " Is that light grey cover on the connector something that needs to come off before installing into the aux jack?"

My cheap solution. Wired straight to the battery and apparently good for up to 500W. 0292B2F7-1162-45C6-9829-9A1316F2A61E.jpg

OK, crap ton of photos here, my apologies in advance but I wanted to be exact with the installation.

If you are wondering what the part numbers are, they are above in the thread already.

Since I had the entire center console disconnected, etc. I took the opportunity to more properly route my wireless charging pad through the center console vice having the cable "shoe-horned" between the access panels. Drilled a very small horizontal entry port into the inside of the center console to run the connector to the USB plug.

Hope all these pics are helpful for those that want to route a USB plug to the rear of the vehicle. Works like a charm, only cost me about $25 in parts and some soldering/shrink tubing, etc.
