I did a diy air pump bypass a while back but lately, I’ve been getting PO244 (valve stuck open) code. This happened at least 5 times on my drive from work this morning, I had to clear the code every time so I could keep it at highway speed.

Where do I need to start to fix this? Do I need to look into blocking plates? I had some work done by a mechanic but I don’t think he flashed (or could flash) the ECU.

buy the gen 2 hewitt bypass kit if you dont want to repair the air pump system, it can't be fooled any other way in the long term as you have found out

I had mine fixed with the diy bypass for six months. At some point it must have hiccuped and activated and the valve didn’t close. You will probably need to replace the valves $300 or $200 from rock auto, to solve issue again.

I’m not sure how the block off plates in the Hewitt kit work if the valve is stuck open - there must be a part of their kit that tricks that sensor - which the diy does not.

Update if anybody has the same problem:

removed the diy bypass and installed the Hewitt kit. Almost 1K miles later and no codes. Should have done this in the first place.
No need for new valves or the valve add-on…yet.

Reviving an old thread, but 8 months later, I'm getting codes again, maybe once or twice within that time, but never stuck around after being cleared.
This time, a couple of days ago, I got either the "Valve Stuck Open" or "Pump Stuck On" code (probably should have written that down before clearing...)
Cleared and no more check engine, BUT yesterday...

Trac Control and ABS lights solid and VSC and 4hi flashing - maybe a wheel sensor wire is broken, but the timing is odd.
    Is this related?
