    Hello All,

After 14 years, my top 2 coolant hoses are starting to go... I'm assuming they're holding by threads as the top od the rubber cover is gone on one and another appears to be crumbling. I'm due for the water pump as it is leaking and I have that and a thermostat ready to go.
My question is: Are silicone hoses worth it? I'm back in the desert, this time the high Desert in SoCal....

Silicone hoses have superior flexibility to rubber ones, and they maintain this flexibility over their lifespan, while rubber does not. This reduces the risk that your hoses will split, explode, harden, or become dry rotted over time.

Because silicone hoses for coolant and refrigeration applications are resistant to so many different environmental factors, they are incorporated into designs that need to hold up well in extremes. They perform well whether used outdoors or indoors.

Silicone hoses also tend to sweat substantially more and you may find yourself periodically topping off your coolant because of that.

Roger that.... Not sure where the leaks appear to be coming from, if these hoses leaking down through the block, or these hoses along with the water pump... I may just stray away from silicone and keep the rubber ones.
