Tailgate drops very fast after replacing shock n assist

My 2012 Toyota tundra limited has a tailgate that drops very fast and hard I replaced the shock and the assist and it still seems to do the same thing I'm not sure what to do next has anybody ever had this problem and fixed it thank you for your responses

 

What make & model of replacement part(s) did you use? Was it new in the box?

 

Broken pivot that the gas strut attaches to. The piece the tailgate fits into. I didn’t see it till I looked real close but it’ll cause it.

 

I bought one from napa and it didn't work for shit. Bought one online and it worked as good as new. Not all parts are made equally.
