My 2012 4.0 tundra 5spd developed a new shimmy. Has trouble getting into 2nd/3rd when cold, it can sometimes be a really noticeable shaking vibration. Is this a normal thing on Tundras? My buddy told me they have a shimmy when they’re cold and act funky.

Sounds like it could use a transmission fluid swap.
    *que the fluid swap police*

I recently did a performance valve body build with IPT trans because the old sleeves were super worn almost useless. Was giving me bad TC issues. All the fluid has less than 20K on it.

And it’s at the proper fill level when warm(I assume it’s the sealed unit)
Then you might have other internal issues

Trans was rebuilt at 123K currently at 153K. Valve body was around 138K I believe. John at IPT trans is the guy I call for this type of stuff but I was thinking of taking it back to the guy who rebuilt it

When starting a thread about an issue, lead with all of this information. “My trans shifts funny” without it and we’re all thinking stock trans. With the info you later provided, which was extremely relevant to the problem, the answer is take it back to whoever modified the trans. Good luck with this.
