I'm installing ride rites and they tell you to cut off the bump stock. So I took my sawsall to it. This bolt+nut in the middle - with the green mark on it..what is it to/what is it holding?

Reason I ask is while cutting off one the driver side I actually sheered it off. So I hope it's nothing important!

i wouldnt drive it.. you can go to a napa or something and find a replacement.

before removing the u-bolts, get to C-clamps and clamp the leaf spring pack together so they dont separate when you remove the pin. Remove the u bolts and separate the leafs from the axle. Replace the sheered pin with a new one and reverse the order to get back to business.

I don't really have the tools or the knowhow to fix this I'm afraid. Just a noob trying to install something 'simple' and I manage to fubar it.

Safe enough to drive to a nearby mechanic and have them fix my screw up? Or do I need a tow?

    I appreciate the offer! :)

Sounds easy if you have the right tools. I don't and none of my nearby friends do. I'll just call AAA and have them bring a flatbed.

It's got the airbag on it which I don't feel like removing. But here's the top of the nut.

It's pretty straight forward if you have the correct tools. Maybe an hour tops to get it all done. If the tow is easy and free, set up an appointment and get it sorted out. Simple mistake so dont sweat it.

I sheered one on my old tacoma (which had a 10leaf leaf pack) and man, that was a pain in the ass lol.

That pretty much renders your pin useless :(

Centering pin. It keeps all the leafs together and also on the axle mounting plate, there's a hole there where the head of the bolt goes in. Prevents the whole spring from sliding off even when the u-bolts are secure.

How far? If there's a shop nearby I'd probably just go easy and it will be fine. Hitting potholes and gunning the throttle are the opposite of what you want to do. I wouldn't drive it to work though.

If you ever seen a truck crabwalking down the road the center pin on one of the rear leaf springs broke. I see morons driving like that on the highway at 80mph.

It was a SUA set up i had. Deavers f67s to be exact.
I was going to say drive it too, but if the tow is free then why not.

Would i personally drive it to a shop? Yes.

Would i suggest to someone else? No.

Only due to feeling terrible it something did happen.
