Anybody running one of these brake light strips under the tailgate and in between the rear bumper? I keep thinking I want one of these but the gap is so dang small on my 06 I don’t think I can squeeze on in there? Anybody tried it? Got pictures?

I would suggest the VLED license plate brake bar. Pretty universal and bright

never been a fan of that full strip. I see too many out there that are running malfunctioned and just looks bad resulting essentially non functional to its full application use

also suggest a sealed harness rather than the Included non IP rated duo tap. Like below

I've seen far too many with burnt out LED bulbs and then they just look janky af. No thanks. I like my bright-ass LED bulbs in my stock housings. The stock housing has a good reflector design and works well with LED bulbs.

Not really a fan of them personally, but to each their own of course. Are you concerned with blocking the lights or with actually installing it as far as the gap is concerned?

@artsr2002 i was hoping to stay away from the cheap ones. Tacoma world likes that opt7 strip. I’m running diode dynamics in the tail lights right now. Some trucks they look good idk. I may pass

@APalmTree blocking the light more or less. There’s not a ton of room, the way the plastic bumper cap sits. I may just need to fix my 3rd brake light in the camper shell instead

I was planning on adding this since my 3rd brake light is blocked with the camper top.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the strip. I see them on trucks with the bro-squat. I would just fix the 3rd brake light on the topper. I re-wired mine using a tow harness and replaced with LED light. Works well, good light, and easy plug/unplug when removing the topper.
