So out of an abundance of caution I installed the CCM cat shields. It wasn't until I was done that I realized I'd have to pull if off to get to the oil pan drain plug. Would anyone be willing to measure from the centerline of the front cross member to the drain plug? I'm going to put a 4" hole saw through the shield for access.

    2021 Tundra 4X4 w/5.7 gas engine

    Thank you

Man, I’d probably just take it off and not saw on it while it’s on the truck. I know it sucks.

I think you're right, the more I thought about it the more I could envision the pilot bit going right into the pan.

Looks like I've got something to do tomorrow
    Thanks for the reply

Yep, that’s what I was thinking. Those pilot bits stick out too far for that. It’s far from fun, but I still take the plates off regularly to clean all the mud and sticks and leaves off of em. I get so much stuff up in there from off-roading.

The CCM blocks access to the oil drain plug?

I was trying to figure that out myself. The oil drain should be forward of the cat plates. I'm wondering if he was accidentally referring to the transmission pan drain plug.

had the same thought as i was taking pics.

you WILL need to remove and/or modify the shield for transmission service.

you WILL NOT need to remove the shield for engine oil change.

    pics incoming.

additionally, drilling a hole to access the transmission drain plug will be of no use if you cannot access the fill plug.

best to remove shield to service the transmission. i do it every 40k miles for my drain/fill.

Y'all are awesome! Thank you for the pics, like someone else said, I confused the trans plug for the oil plug. Thank you guys again, I wasn't looking forward to taking the shield off & reinstalling it on my back in the driveway.
