Just installed the Talon's Garage shield. Aluminum, lower price than most others, and it was in-stock (I got it in 6 days).

    https://www.talonsgarage.com/product-page/2022-toyota-tundra-catalytic-converter-protection-plate

Just a suggestion. It also works great if you have the full TRD Aluminum skid plate.

I do like the fact that Valhalla can powder coat the plate for an additional fee!

Valhalla Is very active here and supports this forum. That goes a long way with most and back him with their $. Yes, it may take a little longer, but loyalty, service and quality go a long way.

Yeah it came in raw aluminum. I was going to paint it and since the PC place is about a mile away, I took a drive over there and when he told me $40 .. I was like heck yeah. DONE!

I am seeing if I can have my Talon's Cat plate powder coated locally (have some requests out). Your's looks incredible.

I was watching a review of someone attaching the F-150 version, and he said he used some neoprene spacers (that he purchased separately at Home Depot) as part of his install. I noticed a few additional aluminum pieces associated with the F-150 version, so that might explain the suggestion.

Link to video that mentioned neoprene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWMZwPnA2BQ

This is discussed in the Valhalla thread. Using a strip of self adhesive rubber between the cat plate and the overlapping of the engine skid. Also, since Valhalla offers a front and rear cat protection, the rubber strip can also be used between the overlapping plates. Not mandatory but reduces the potential of any future rattle.

I ordered a shield from Valhalla. I understand it’s going to take awhile but I’m okay with that. Tyler has been very responsive to my emails and everyone’s questions on the forum. I also think his design is superior to some of the other options out there.

I contacted a Kansas City area shop that does Powder Coating, and the estimate was $150 over the phone. $40-$50, I would be all in. At $150, the protection is going on as-is.

Honestly...I installed mine as the bare aluminum how it came. However, I also live in Nevada and get about 4 inches of rain a year with an average humidity of ~30%. Corrosion isn't much of a concern here.

Yea different climate for sure, I’m in PA and we get lots of snow and rain here! I’ll have to consider getting it coated or maybe I’ll give it a coat of high temp spray paint!

So I got the aluminum plate and first used a metal etching primer rattle can and then flat black rattle can. 9A0E326D-3FC6-447F-AC06-B4F8A927858D.jpg

That came out great! Is that metal etching paint or the flat paint high heat resistant? Or your not worried that it’s not going to get that hot?

It’s just metal etching primer and then standard rust oleum flat black

Yea that’s what I’m talking about! I have gotten 3 quotes and they were from $90-$200 for the same job! I won’t mind if the pricing was at least within $25 of each other, but for $20 bucks I’ll do it myself
