I hit 20k miles and went out to grease my u joints, but it appears the fittings have been removed for the '21 model. While underneath my truck I noticed this fluid that appears to be leaking onto the u joint and spraying while the truck is in motion - notice the ring pattern from what I assume is the fluid hitting the driveshaft and spraying all over the place. It looks and smells like oil, but I'm not sure where that would be coming from. Has anyone seen this before, or know what it might be?

I've since learned that this is just "grease splatter" and is normal. Back to looking for the grease nipples to pump some new grease in these joints...

I don’t know if I agree with this being normal. My ‘20 is bone dry near the output of the transfer case. I do not have any u-joints with grease fittings, seems like they went away several years ago.

Yeah, I agree with you - I've taken some closer looks and this appears to be a leak out of the transfer case somewhere. And I see that they did do away with the grease fittings on Tundras, Tacomas and 4Runners, unfortunately. Thank you for your comment, I'm still under warranty so I'm going to have this looked at.

I had these issues in my 07, required a reseal and new transmission fluid service at 15k and again at 27k, if I remember correctly. Take it in and have it inspected.

Thanks @blackdemon_tt . I've since had it in to the dealer and they said they weren't sure what was causing it. They are going to try a reseal on the output of the transfer case but the parts are on national backorder (like everything else) so I'm keeping an eye on it. Now that I can say someone else had this issue and that fixed it I'll let them know. I appreciate it

I had this happen on my 04 and I could definitely smell gear oil, it was the output shaft seal on the transfer case.

That's what I'm going with. Dealer says part is on national back-order, but I found a few so I might just do it myself before something breaks. I appreciate the feedback, thank you
