Does anyone have experience with this. What kind of effort will it take. Thanks.

Guy on the FB tundra classifieds has one he was trying to sell.
Basically you have to get the frame lengthened and mount the bed.
The post had , last I checked, 75+ comments. The seller cited “executive driven” and other odd comments. Sounded like a used car salesman.

Last I heard you'd need 3 tundras. The cabin of a crewmax, The regular bed of a DC, and the chassis of a DC long bed. Then just a few simple steps and you'll have your truck!

Just put a 6.5 flat bed on it and call it a day.

Is this really how it's done? I'd assume need to weld on new mounts.

It would probably be cheaper to just buy a new third Gen tundra with the crewmax and 6.5 bed :anonymous:

Outside of "custom" work, this would be simpler. All the mechanics and geometry would be correct because your rolling on the correct chassis. Your not trying to lengthen a crewmax chassis an additional foot. I'm sure some of the body mounts won't line up though.

The real cost would then come with the v8 conversion.

Keep it simple, buy a trailer, hitch mounted bed extender, or hitch cargo basket. Maybe all 3.

You'd need to have a frame modification done. Basically, they go in, cut the frame, and add some length. Can be done but really not worth it IMO. Better to go with a brand that offers the config you're looking for.

Agreed, there's only 1 thing I'd pay thousands of dollars to extend and it isn't my truck.

Thanks to all for the responses. Not going 3rd gen because I don’t want turbocharged or V6 engines. Love my 5.7

This is probably the best advice on here. Get a ute tray with some side rails and gain a lot of function and lose a lot of weight.

you could get that stretch my truck place to do a 6 door conversion while they swap in a longer bed.
