What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Anyone know if 1G Sequoia's have the same CHMSL bulb burns socket issue?
I'd think it would, but haven't seen anything reported about it.

 

Havent checked mine yet, but 3rd brakes have always worked, probably original, but cargo lights havent worked since ‘08-‘09.

 

I opened mine up on the Tundra because cargo light was out. Found the meltage, did the clean up & bulb swap. i was lucky the burn wasn't too bad, but the brake lights were still working.

 

Well burning the candle on both ends tonight, leaving for a work trip Sunday and family road trip Saturday I wanted my paint to have at least 24 hours to cure before reinstalling. My Supervisor is surely pissed off at me but when it comes to me working on the truck, when is she not? Fender flares finally painted, and managed to get those mirror caps off only breaking one tab in the process, can’t wait to see how it looks installed. Good thing about the work trip is rumor has it I’ll only be occupied until noon each day and there’s an auto hobby shop on that base with no one to fuss at me that I’ve been out there all afternoon

Not sold on them yet. 1" seems like too much. I'm gonna try spacing the rear a bit.

It's why I didn't go for the seat jackers, I was pretty sure I wouldn't be 100% happy.

 

I reckon if the DIY lifts moved the seat forward ~10-15mm, it'd be a-ok.

 

So does heat. I used a map gas torch and a rag... but wd40 would have been less... risky

 

Oh, and my High mount stop light was burnt to a crisp too. Happy to have replaced the whole assembly for full reflection

 

Not sure I could get that low. Not even with custom machining a steel block, given the thread size is M10 and some wall thickness will need to be there for thread strength. And space for the head of the bolts.

Maybe, I'm already thinking about it.

Today's mission was a successful failure. I managed to Frankenstein's monster my door check using the Dorman door check rubber and door piece with the door frame leg from the factory unit. Its nice and stiff when opening the door and it stays in place. The failure comes from the fact I managed to break the cup around the door handle into 3 pieces, i managed to misplace the retainer nuts for the 2 door check posts and I managed to break several of the pink retainer clips on the door panel. Luckily I found replacement nuts that fit in my junk drawer and I strategically placed the remaining pink retainers so as to hold the panel best i can until I can order some replacements. This isn't my primary vehicle so no hurry on that. So overall, a successful failure. Only pic I took was of the stock check that I took apart.

That makes me the doctor and the door check my monster. Lol

 

This also reminded me that I need a new bench vise. Even a cheap Harbor Freight one would have made things easier.

If you’re the kind of person who replaces 1 of the 3 seals on a fuel injector and only does 2 of the 4 injectors on a side then you’re an idiot. That’s what I came across today. I am not an idiot so I’m doing all 3 seals on all 8 injectors even though only 1 was leaking. I was so pissed when I pulled the rail and saw 2 of the injectors had new upper seals and 2 were crusty originals.

 

Started to recommend "Mangler" but....

Oh, you should’ve asked us before you took on this endeavor. I almost did what you did many many years ago, but this saved my bacon.

 

I took the panel off before when I replaced my speakers and managed not to break the cup. I had forgotten which part of it clips on and rather than looking it up I decided to just yank on it like an ijiot. That's what I get for not taking my time.

The engineer that designed the little flapper that covers the screw, should be drawn and quartered ! Fortunately that whole trim piece is not that expensive.
