Oh, I would be SO cussing! Sorry to hear about the damage, cool on not killing it. I got bit by a copperhead a couple years ago, hurt like a mother... I was still on painkillers the next day, when I decided I didn't want to risk getting addicted, so destroyed the painkillers. This, for the record, was an error in judgement.

Wyoming is basically Alberta + freedom. I feel quite at home there. Same with Montana.

    That’s a fact.

It’s funny what we become used to. Some Australians we were chatting with years ago and the topic of wildlife came up. We discussed the amount of deadly animals/reptiles Australia has and their response was golden.

“But mate, you all have grizzly bears!” They were terrified of the idea of having one walking around.

    Talk about soiling myself...

I was working in South Carolina, deep in the marshes south of Parris island in the the middle of nowhere, which has a rich history of active Haints.

Well I experienced some interesting stuff on that trip to say the least, but the crown jewel of was this...
I woke up to some noises that I couldn't quite place the origin. I looked at the ceiling and saw tree branch shadows that appeared to be moving. I didn't understand so I got up to look closer... Well I soon realized that I was I trouble when a baseball glove sized spider decided to leave to ceiling and started descending towards me!! I freaked out!

I Ran outside thinking I was safe... Ohhhh noooo. Right on the patio was a giant alligator who seemed to be in cahoots with the spider and guided by the Haints. I again freaked out and ran up to the rooftop terrace which had a hammock. I wrapped myself up in a cocoon and sweated out the rest of the night. I didn't get any sleep but heard barking and yelping in the early pre-dawn hours so I went to see. Apparently the dogs were bitten by a group of snakes that had approached the house. There were cottonmouths, rattlers, water moccasins that all decided to visit and caused the dogs to go nuts. But the problem was the alligators came too and one of the dogs was already half eaten and the second one was not far behind. Then, almost as if there was "something" calling them, everything scattered and disappeared at the same time!!! The owners didn't seem too shocked but were devastated by the loss of their dogs and offered to set me up in a hotel for the rest of my time there. They said the Haints were probably upset with the noise from the work I was doing and wanted me to stop. I told them about the spider and they laughed as if I met their fluffy pet.! "Oh, you met peaches, don't worry, she won't bite you"! I said GET ME OUTTA HERE!!! They went on to explain that there was a native burial site that was partially unearthed during the development of the area and since then, weird tales of "animal attacks" were being reported but no one could explain the coordination between them. They claimed the Haints can manifest into, and through the swamp reptiles, causing erratic behavior!!!!

    Nonetheless,
I will never be going back there.

Here is a web pic that represents what I saw on the ceiling...

If it makes you feel better I did almost the same thing. Boat bashed into my tailgate. Then once I left one of the turnbuckle attached to my truck camper amd tried to unload it. Ripped the whole front off the camper, had to rebuild the whole front frame.

It happens (what, shit?). Learn a lesson each time.

You bet your ass they are. They hurt like a son of a bitch too. It’s a mild venom compared to a rattlesnake as it won’t kill you unless you’re allergic. It’s like a scorpion sting essentially.

My original tailgate took a tree branch to it from a wind storm. Think it was 3-4 months old. 400.00 to fix. I was pretty bummed.

Follow up on this..my body shop guy did an amazing job. I was under the impression that the rear camera was integrated into the tailgate latch. I was expecting $600 minimum for the piece. Picked up the tailgate today and my guy said "bad news, the the latch was $188 but the camera is fine". Bad news??

Florida wildlife, flora and fauna is a bloody nightmare, if it’s not trying to eat you, maim you, rip you to shreds, poison you or drown you, it’s trying to shoot you or run you down.

I was dismantling some steps one day when I realized that my nose was just four inches away from this cute little fella, he couldn’t have been more than 12” long. Just curled up there, snug as a bug in a rug…

    upload_2022-4-26_22-2-8.jpg

I hadn’t the foggiest what it was but a quick post on my arseface account soon had my FL friends squawking.

Sounds like some great bad news. I mean, it’s still not nice having to pay for the fix, but now it’s over and done with, and life goes on. And it’s always good when something is easier or cheaper than expected.
