So apparently my NAV requires a connection via app to a smartphone (which is incredibly stupid, but that's for another time...) and I cannot get it to work.

It says download Entune. So I did. Entune app says download Toyota app. So I did and the Toyota app has nothing in it. Just a bare bones useless app. So I go back to the radio and play around. It says can't use NAV, need mandatory update. Ok so update. It chokes and says update failed. Ugh.

WTH is this crap and how do I make NAV work?

Unfortunately my friend, ditch the head unit or just use your phone. I believe what you’re referring to is the old Scout navigation system. I’m not entirely sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Toyota stopped supporting it. They’ve removed several old apps since the launch of Entune 3.0. I could be mistaken, maybe someone with an older head unit who still uses Scout can shed some light. Good luck!

I’m in the same boat with my 2018 Tundra..... I think the head unit is basically garbage. Worst part about the truck by far.
