Wish I could find a TRD system. Not a fan of koolaide exhausts.

Its a pour in ceramic coating you add to your oil once in a while.
What it does is embed ceramic particles into the metal components cavities to decrease friction quite a bit.
I broke my 21 Tundra in with it, then after oil change I did it again.
What I have now is a quiet, cool running noiseless engine that gives me good MPG and the oil shows no signs of wear whatsoever.

First time I am reading that dual exhaust increases the mpg. Maybe it's been discussed before but is it true?
What mpg improvements are we talking about? Less than 1 mpg?

My truck came with factory dual-trd exhaust. Just curious that's all. Is the mpg improvement rpm related like for example the low end vs. high end torque with dual exhaust?

with any performance mods done to an ICE, you will gain in MPG and performance if you lessen restriction of the exhaust cycle.(to a point)
In my comment of supercharging the 5.7, I have talked to owners who have seen an increase in MPG with the addition.(you keep your foot out of it and drive responsibly)
In every install, they went from a single exhaust to dual exhaust as the restriction of a single exhaust on a blown engine would be detrimental to performance and mileage.

Michelins are good tires for MPG, and going slow makes a huge difference. Power to overcome air resistance goes up with speed^3... that's 3.7x more HP to go 85 vs 55 mph.

At slower speeds the tire rolling resistance dominates. My stock Bridgestones were terrible... worse than my Hankook 35x13 ATMs that weigh over twice as much! I'd get >18 mpg at 55 mph and flat roads.

    What tires?

Ceratec. He mentioned it in his 1st post. I wouldn't put it in my engine unless you can find some independent lab test results.

    I think it’s this one:
Liqui Moly (20002) Cera Tec Friction Modifier - 300 ml https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001CZODH8

You will need a bottle with every oil change. As soon as those ‘slick’ particles are drained there’s no more magic.

Actually, you use it once in a while as the ceramic particles embed themselves into the metal pores.

I wouldn't. They will improve performance a little in most applications, but at the cost of letting more dirt in. Many tests show this. AFE dry is probably your best bet. If you never drive in dirty conditions, maybe the K&N is fine.

This guy discovered that the K&N boosted performance relative to a stock filter... but oddly once he removed the charcoal filter from the airbox, stock performed as well as the K&N (acceleration runs). A pretty significant difference IMO, ~3.5% faster acceleration (stock -charcoal (which was the same as K&N -charcoal) vs stock +charcoal). Don't know what the effect would be on MPG, but surely... something? I'm getting rid of the charcoal filter on mine anyway...

Honestly, I haven't looked yet, but there are plenty of threads about it. It's also called a hydrocarbon filter.

I don't think some people fully understand what drone is. The TRD exhaust is louder than stock, and you can hear it in the cabin, but it does not drone.

Drone is a completely different thing and kind of hard to explain unless you've experienced it. It rings in your head and ears. You could plug your ears, but you still feel it in your head.

I've towed cargo and travel trailers up and down mountains and I've yet to experience drone.
    I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, I'm feeling totally inadequate after reading this thread.
I'm running a smaller 4.6L, not modded, on Michie Defenders, with the K&N lifetime filter and get about 16mpg, 14mpg if she's got her goober rack on. That's on long daily highway runs with little to no urban driving. :(
Lead foot might have something to do with it.

An engine is an air pump. It will draw all the air it can fit in the cylinders. The computer can do nothing to limit air coming into the engine.

*edit* I mean I guess it could kill the spark. Also there is the whole variable valve timing thing.

Drone - A harmonious symbiosis between a given frequency and the collective cubic feet of area that a human resides in while driving, multiplied by the material type of which said human is enclosed within while transporting it's carcass around. :101010:

So what makes Ceratec different from the old Slick50 crap that was marketed in the 80's and 90's. IIRC over on Bobs the Oil Guy forums the Slick 50 with moly showed that it turned to a solid after a while and basically ended up as small chunks in your oil.

I have to chuckle a little when I see someone describe the 5.7 L as a big engine and I'm sure it is by today's standards. My dad had a 68 Pontiac Executive with the 455 V8. Then you had the Olds 442, Chevy 454, etc. I think my Dad's Pontiac may have gotten 8 MPG on a good day.

my uncle had a 501 Eldorado.
    When I got my licence a 301 was considered small. That's a 5.0 liter. actually 4.9
    A 350 was considered big - a 5.7 liter.
The Tundra engine is big and the mileage I got at 12.8 l/100 this past weekend was normal -
That is 19 mpg and IMO a miracle.
Especially seeing the numbers the 22 Tundra guys are getting.
